They must be able to latch shut, and since you open them from the outside that’s where the latch is.
Walk-in freezer at work is through the walk in cooler. I never shut the door when going in the freezer-I’d have a panic attack. The cooler’s safety mechanism is to dissemble the handle/latch from the inside. The beer cooler has a push handle inside. For awhile that was broken off. As one who closes alone , I was nervous until the chef fixed it!
