Rancher Cliven Bundy renews range fight, pledging to 'do whatever it takes'

LAS VEGAS-Fresh from his federal court triumph, Nevada cattleman Cliven Bundy wasted no time in renewing his range fight, asking why the local sheriff hadn't protected his family and property when government agents tried to round up his cattle in 2014.

The ranching patriarch urged Sheriff Joseph Lombardo of Clark County, Nevada not take direction from the federal government, describing it as a "foreign" power.

"Sheriff Lombardo are you going to represent "We the People" or are you going to represent the federal bureaucracy?" the 71-year-old Bundy said Wednesday, standing outside the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department headquarters. The sheriff earlier declined a personal meeting with Bundy.

Speaking into a microphone attached to a bullhorn and ringed by about 20 supporters, Bundy said, "I want to ask him to be a Constitutional sheriff with more power than the President of the United States here in Clark County with the only policing power. If he don't, I guess we will replace him one way or the other......

Bundy held forth at his news conference as if he were leading an educational seminar on his interpretation of the US Constitutional and state's rights. He quizzed listeners on when Nevada became a territory and the role of Nevada's state cattle brand inspector. It's no accident that sons and co-defendants Ammon Bundy and Ryan Bundy led similar talks during their armed takeover of the Malheur National Wildlife refuge in Oregon in 2016.

Cliven Bundy pledged to continue raising cattle, challenging federal authority over the land where his herd grazes and battling federal protections for the rugged mountains and sandstone surrounding his 160-acre ranch.......

Since his release Monday, he said he's gotten to hug dozens of his 64 grandchildren......

Cliven Bundy is speaking out and standing tall intending to go right back to work and hoping for local support if the federal government continues to stand in his way of making a living raising cattle.

What says Mr. Zinke at the Department of the Interior?

We don't know if Sessions will back down from appealing the judge's ruling in Cliven's case dismissing the charges. No answer yet from the US Attorney's Office.

Meanwhile four other guys including two of Cliven's sons, Mel and Dave Bundy, are still set to go on trial February 26th.

The mistrial does not affect their trial since all the evidence is now out in the open.

Mel Bundy looks forward to a trial, though, saying it would only expose the wrongdoing of the government in connection with the April 2014 standoff.

You’ve got to love an American family which has not given up on children. We need to have more American families be like the Bundy family, IMHO. We’d be stronger for it.

Well, if he gets himself arrested again I’m not going to feel so inclined to root 100% for him.

Grab a sign, stand out in front of the capital and protest as long as he wants. Grab guns and cause a ruckus; go to jail this time.

Since it was dismissed with prejudice then I don't think the dismissal can be appealed.

Hmmmm. Pretty interesting statement considering the evidence that no guns were grabbed until the “government” had basically attacked, threatened, and assaulted some members of the family who then thought it necessary to finally protect themselves from the overreach. All one needs to remember is Ruby Ridge and WACO to recall just how far “government” is willing to overreach.

More recently Mr Lavoy Finicum will forever remember how far.

Oh I forgot, they did all indeed go to jail this time, for two years without a trial.

...and even after a trial in Oregon, exonerating some members of the family, they were still incarcerated on the ridiculous charges. And now we all know once again, just how far “government” is willing to go in the “interest” of it’s people. All are in jeopardy if this kind of “justice” is allowed to continue.

Of course it is common knowledge why the Bundy’s went to Oregon in the first place to protest the double jeopardy of the Hammond family who stupidly went like sheep, back to jail after a judge decided their first trial didn’t punish them enough for setting a back fire to protect their ranch. So let’s just tack on an additional five years without trial to set things right.

And in that protest Mr Lavoy Finicum was murdered and others assaulted by “law enforcement” folks using tactics designed to force confrontation, when that should have been the last thing sane law enforcement should be doing when those assaulted were not forcing anything at the time other than trying to reach a local sheriff to plead their case.

Doing "whatever it takes" is what got him in trouble the last time. I suggest he listen to his lawyers on what's legal and what isn't and not go on his own interpretations.

That is how it looks to me as well. Lavoy Finicum however did not enjoy the same return to life and liberty, and that needs to be addressed, until the cows come home.

Like many of the Bundy cows they ain’t coming home. People of the United States of America, beware!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Watched Cliven’s press conference on Jason Goodman’s YouTube Channel. He is on solid ground.

His case is compelling. The conflict stems from federal agencies weaponized under Obama targeting White Christian rural families, especially those like the Bundy’s who are sitting on billions of dollars of Uranium that Harry Reid and sons cut a deal for and were expecting windfall profits from.

The agency scheme was hatched by a wrongful imposition of a federal ‘grazing tax’ for cattle on ‘federal lands’, lands that rancher families like the Bundy’s had cattle graze on for 150 years. Suddenly a ‘tax’ appears out of nowhere and with no legitimacy other than a snarling attitude “We’re federal government hotshots and you will do as you’re told”. All the ranchers that acquiesced, signed on to the tax and wrote a check, those ranchers are now all out of business as the payment of the tax constitutes a contract to abide by federal agency rules (policies) that were fabricated behind the tax. Signing those checks made a contract that laid a trap. Those ranchers that signed the checks went out of business as their cattle suffered and they closed down and sold their ranches.

The Bundy’s saw the trap laid by the Obama era agents and protested peacefully which the hostile press called a ‘standoff’. It was not a standoff, it was a peaceful protest that was met with violent federal employees from the Bureau of Land Management. These employees had gained employment with the federal government, had been trained as a dangerous military force, had been brainwashed to think American families such as the Bundy’s were domestic terrorists according to Obama era policies. Every last one of them needs to be transferred into military service and shipped off to Bumf*ck Egypt for a tour of permanent duty.

Cliven makes a solid argument from the Constitution that the federal government cannot impose such a tax because they do not ‘own’ the land. The Constitution plainly states that the federal government can ‘buy’ land for operations such as military bases, post offices, courthouse buildings, and the like. Whereas the federal government never ‘bought’ the land that cattle grazed on since the Civil War, the federal government is not the owner nor can they be owners of such large swaths of land. No money changed hands or title transferred as required by the Constitution, that silly anachronistic parchment that some whacky Americans think governs their lives. Message to the Bundy’s “Get A Real Job, a Government Job! And shut up about your stupid Constitution!”

Cliven spent 700 days in jail for a crime he never committed, having been adjudged guilty before trial. In jail, he witnessed how federally employed low-IQ lawyers, lawyers likely on the government payroll because they couldn’t make it anywhere else, manufactured, hid evidence, lied, and railroaded protestors participating with the Bundy’s.

I, too, have in the last decade witnessed government or quasi-government lawyers who lie, cheat, steal, under color of law. My father, RIP, a senior DOJ Attorney who worked directly for the US Attorney General, a man of honor and integrity, who gave his life as a weekend warrior in the reserves, impressed me that government lawyers were a cut above the rest of society, that they had a code of honor that ensured the laws were fairly enforced. Yes, I was wrong but not so wrong years ago as I would be today. Today, the few bad apples of yesterday have become prevalent in that government culture. These unethical government employees have been indoctrinated into the culture of brazen railroading of innocent people, that it is justified because ‘compliance’ subordinates all other standards.

The Bundy’s were not ‘compliant’. They were tax evaders, tax protestors living in their world of constitutional irrelevance, hence needed to either be shot to teach a lesson or railroaded into prison or both.

The resolution of this tragedy is not in the granting of these non-titled lands to the states, for the states have their unethical legal cultures inhabited by the likes of the sons of Harry Reid and corrupt Governors and cronies. The title needs to be federally chartered by an Act of Congress, managed by communities under bylaws of Stewardship. Congressionally authorized stewardship charters must be introduced in Congress to stop the growth of these rogue federal hooligans who get the wrong idea that somehow they are lords over the range. These hoodlums put their pants on just like everyone else. They are on the government payroll, why? The role of these agencies needs a top-down review of just why they exist and what their purpose really is. Then they need to have their training standards overhauled so that the people lucky enough to get that government job understand the image they are trained to project to the citizenry. And they need to be disarmed immediately. If law enforcement is necessary, they can always get a court order served by the Sheriff. They need not show up armed like Rambo to get their asinine testosterone fix for their f*cked up egos.

That's an amazing statement. They all did go to jail. You obviously don't know what occurred here.

You realize this sentence describes “young” Hillary Rodham to a tee.

I thought that this trial was dismissed ‘WITH PREJUDICE” which means there can be no further trials.
