FULL TITLE: Deaths threats cause school board lockdown after teacher was handcuffed in video - while superintendent DEFENDS the $38,000 raise that started the scuffle
A Louisiana school board's office went on temporary lockdown after getting death threats from around the world in response to widely viewed video of a teacher screaming while being handcuffed at a school board meeting.
The threats have come from as far away as South America, Australia and England, as well as other U.S. states, Vermilion Parish School Board President Anthony Fontana told The Advertiser. He said they've been reported to the FBI and local police.
Middle-school English teacher Deyshia Hargrave was removed from Monday night's meeting, forcibly handcuffed and jailed after questioning pay policies during a public comment period.

Overpaid at the top
arth ping
Heh - the board president looks like a mobbed-up goomba...
“Overpaid at the top”
Indeed. Imagine any number of school superintendents being able to pass the most simple of STEM frosh courses.
Dumbasses, all.
Oh please Coyote and just where does he think that money comes from? And just who does HE think HE is? Bill Clinton? NO he’s just a lame ass school worker. He needs a pay cut and give that money to the teachers.
The teacher gets handcuffed and hauled away. The Feds beat up the lawyer in front of the judge in Nevada. Is this a trend?
“Heh - the board president looks like a mobbed-up goomba...”
“Anthony Fontana” sounds Swedish though.
You know, people really pissed that Trump won. I guess.

If there are no consequences, it may become one.
After having spent 10 years in the high school classroom, I can attest that outside of actors, athletes & politicians, teachers are the most self-absorbed, self-righteous class of fools around.
No teachers, you’re not special because you’re “shaping the future” — you’re DANGEROUS because you believe that.
I have no idea what this teacher’s politics are and in this case; it doesn’t really matter IMHO. She had a good point. A $38k a year raise for one person is huge; especially if the teachers didn’t get anything. It would be far better to spread that $38k around to everyone and for the district to add to it if they can than to give it all to one person. As a conservative I believe she was right and didn’t like they way she was jack-booted out of there in cuffs either.
Having said that; I’m disgusted at the indoctrination and brain washing happening in some classrooms but that’s another subject entirely.
Full Faith and Credit cross-border concealed carry recognition is on a parallel course with this nonsense. Karma, maybe?
I'm just yanking your chain.
This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)
The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.
Yet 85% or more of parents send their kids to the government schools. In spite of the never ending series of horror stories.
Death threats?
In this case i can understand it.
38,000 raise?
Crappola.
We poke fun at Turkey for this behavior (and rightly so), so why is this tolerated in a Constitutional Republic?
Amen Brother!
But you forgot "self-aggrandizing" (my pet peeve).
In college, Ed majors were usually too dumb to pass the real tests (Math/Chem/Phys) and were given watered-down versions.
The whole education system should be abolished and the money used for infrastructure.
The classical education model is as anachronistic as the buggy whip.
And who is a going to *babysit* the children during the day, eh?
