“I, TONYA,” which is based on hours of interviews with Ms. Harding and her ex-husband, honors its feisty subject by showing not just the abuse she endured, but how she fought back.
For the record, Ms. Harding loved the movie. “Magnificent,” was her word, especially after she’d seen it a few times. You have to remember, that was her life. That those beatings were very specifically hers, not composite beatings. And that they weren’t even shown in full: “People don’t understand that what you guys see in the movie is nothing,” she said. “That was the smallest little bits and pieces. I mean, my face was bruised. My face was put through a mirror, not just broken onto it. Through it. I was shot. That was true.” (snip) She said her mother threw a knife at her. (Her mother has also denied allegations made by Ms. Harding.) But “that’s all true,” she said.(snip)
Which is not to say that the movie is totally accurate. As I said, there are some things she would like to clear up. Such as:

If Harding is a skank, what would you call a skater who is banging her married manager while his wife is pregnant? You’d call her Nancy Kerrigan. Seems the golden girl ain’t so golden.
You know the line...Different strokes...?.. me I thought they both were Skanks.... But I don’t follow figure skating either.

So Harding is a skank because someone is making a movie about her? Before the attack, she was an American success story. Came from nothing, trained for the Olympics at a rink in the middle of a mall. What she knew or didn’t know about what her idiot ex husband was planning is still a matter of debate. Her entire life was destroyed and she’s had to make do with the deck she was handed, or handed herself. Kerrigan meanwhile is portrayed as some kind of all American girl, when in reality she’s an obnoxious bitch, who was having an affair with her married manager, but that is all swept under the carpet.
I'm with you. At the Golden Globes, whenever they described this film, they kept saying it was a story about "class" differences. So, I don't know, does that mean that they think people of lower economic stature, should be allowed to kneecap someone in order to help themselves in a competition?
I think that this is just bizarre. Of all things to try to push on people, this story is over. Tonya Harding ruined her own career. No one forced her, or her boyfriend at that time, to do something like this. This was a choice. A bad choice. And, she paid the price, as she should have.
I think that her lower economic and social status, in their eyes, excuses her actions.
It is an abdication of personal responsibility.
Which I find abhorrent, but predictable. This is the way the Left views everything.
I liked the movie and found it neutral. Revealed personality disorder. JMO.

This isn't about Nancy Kerrigan. Maybe she's a skank too. But that doesn't change what Tonya Harding is.
It figures Hollywood would love Tonya.
He finds her unattractive. Some men would probably like her looks in the more current pic. She’s not exactly the Elephant Man. Not that I’m a Tonya Harding fan by any stretch, but just giving her a fair shake.
