Yesterday , my wife shut down our HP before I could stop Windows Updates for the time being until MS gets the patch issue resolved . Athlon 2 prosessor / Windows 7 / 64 bit . After rebooting a few times yesterday we got the computer to work again and I left it on all night so I could use this morning . Seemed to be working OK but after I went into Windows Update to check download history - where I discovered the newest patch had been installed " successfully " - and then closed that window and again got the blue screen of death . The PC rebooted but internet network no bueno . When I checked history of updates I got one other yesterday - AMD driver for AMD SMbus was not downloaded successfully . Anyway , has anybody here experienced what I am experiencing now and what have you done about it ? I posted on Windows forums and am trying to call HP Japan now but I am not expecting much help .
Really appreciate your replies . IF I don’t have a recent restore point , how do I go about uninstalling updates in your list . I’m a computer dummy working with a made for Japan computer with a wife who knows about as much as I do about computers - and that isn’t much . Cheers !
This should work for Windows 7. As I said, I don't think you need to block future update installation, but I could be wrong.

I was able to restore system to Jan. 7 - but the problem still persists : Network not connected then BSOD .
I restored to Jan. 7 but it didn’t fix the problem . Damn .
Wild . My wife remembered years ago when we had trouble with not being able to connect to internet network , that on occasion we were advised to do a - i guess what would be called a hard boot , meaning we would unplug the PC , let it sit for a while , plug it in again , and all would be OK . She suggested we try that . I said , what the heck nothing to lose . It worked . We’re re-connected to the net and so far no BSOD . Don’t have a clue why this would work but it did .

It emptied your onboard RAM, ( Random Access Memory. ) RAM does not necessarily always empty with a simple restart but unplugging does remove power from RAM so that it discharges totally.
Most of those KB40568** updates are dated January 3rd, so you might have installed one before your January 7th restore point.
If you encounter problems, there is still the uninstall option in #22.
The backdate did uninstall the KB update but we still experienced same problems afterwards until we did the “ hard boot “ . Anyway , thanks again to you and all here on FR for the help .

Ours was dated Jan 9th .
I left the computer on all night , woke up this morning , and got message that new updates had been installed . Just looked and KB4056894 has been installed again as well as KB890830 and .Net Framework . Now I have to worry about BSOD issues again ? I thought MS stopped issuing KB4056894 because of all the problems those with older AMD processors were having ???
Hm.

None of the KB40568** updates have been installed to any of my fully updated AMD computers. However, none of them are running Win 7.
So maybe Win 7 is different, or maybe Microsoft in Japan didn't get the memo to stop pushing the updates.
You can still follow the procedure at the link in #22 and try to "hide" KB4056894. Unfortunately you have to change Windows settings so updates are not installed automatically, then uninstall the update, then run Windows update again, then locate KB4056894 in the downloaded-but-not-installed updates, right click the update, and select "Hide update."
Was able to uninstall it w/o any problems . Update off auto .
Still have to figure out why I can’t open Windows Update of my upstairs Dell . Get white screen with spinning green wheel which freezes for a few minutes before I can close it . Called Dell support in China and they did a remote scan / check etc. and got it to work while I was on the phone with them but next time I went to open Windows Update the problem returned .
