The Golden Globes ratings were down again this year. It probably didn’t help that the Hollywood hypocrites announced they would lecture the nation on sexual abuse at the annual festivities.

Oprah Winfrey led the way when she lectured the nation and white males for the monstrous sexual abuse culture in Hollywood during her Golden Globes speech.
Most all of the men accused of abusive behavior against women in the past several months are liberal elites.
The ratings were down by 5%. Variety reported:
The 2018 Golden Globes were down in the Nielsen ratings compared to last year.
The Golden Globes, airing on NBC, drew a 5.0 rating in adults 18-49 and 19 million viewers. That is an approximate drop of approximately 11 percent in the demo and 5 percent in total viewers compared to 2017’s final numbers (5.6, 20 million). The 2016 Golden Globes finished out with a 5.5 and 18.7 million.
In addition, in metered market households, this year’s ceremony drew a 13.4 rating, up slightly from the 13.3 from last year’s ceremony.
Earlier on NBC, the Golden Globes red carpet arrivals drew a 2.2 and 10 million viewers.
I heard snippets of Oprah’s speech last night on the national news and/or Fox news. She seemed to elevate the women attending the awards show (presumably 95% actresses? I don’t really know) to being the heroes of the world, etc.
My reaction was, “what about the regular hard-working, tax-paying people, who raise good citizens, set a good example, etc.?” “What about the single mother who works 3 jobs for 20 years to put her kids through college?” ETC
I am pretty darn sick of the Hollywood types (and even so-called journalists the last couple years) labelling themselves as heroic.

When we were young we were taught to be gentlemen around the ladies. Then we went to the movies and saw it was A-OK to get a girl in a steam room and remove her clothes. After all, James Bond and Matt Helm did it!
It was OK to do like Robert Redford and walk up to a pretty girl, put your left arm around her shoulder and with your right arm reach under her sweater and fondle her breasts.
Then we learned it was OK to spy on girls in the shower!
If it was in the movies, it is normal to do, isn’t it! As Roger Ebert said years ago, if a girl does not want to do a nude scene there are hundreds of girls in the wings waiting to drop their clothes and parade around naked.
Only liberals can be the evil doers and then project their own behavior and evils on a general enemy CLASS of humans. In this case, it is liberal Hollywood and democrat politicians that are the evil baddies abusing women. But they clammier up to their alter (microphone & camera) and preach about how all WHITE MEN are evil and “Times up!”
Like all morally grounded, Christian value based, red blooded American, I condemn all unjust violence against women. But it is frustrating to now be in the cross hairs of leftist hate (again) because liberal men in Holywood and DC are evil perverts.
What’s next, blaming white men today for slavery in America? (sarc)

I think that was Marlon Brando boycotting the Oscars over American Indian protests.
I posit that if you “get a girl into a steam room” with you, she pretty much is in for the full game. Removing clothes in a steam room is par for the course.
I fear your optimism underestimates the stupidity of the general voting public and leftists especially. A well known black woman to vote for? She might be able to win an election without ever appearing in public again.
The best way to prevent it, is to have a roaring economy, a boarder wall and strong national security before the next POTUS election.
Oprah. Ivanka’s hero. Ivanka couldn’t be bothered to vote for her father but guaranteed she’ll be first in line to vote for that lib harpy Oprah.
5% down is not “tanking”, sorry. Face it almost half of the country is clueless. You want to get depressed go to any waiting room and watch reaction the people have to any network news broadcast if it’s on. They sit taking it in like it’s gospel.

I think it was Marlon Brando who made it political, when he sent an American Indian woman up to accept his Oscar? He was protesting depictions of Indians in Hollywood as I recall?
My idea of the people who sit in awe watching all these Hollywood and music endless awards shows:
Middle aged women tucked on the couch wearing an old bathrobe with curlers in her hair and eating stale popcorn or chocolate bon-bons, living vicariously through the fake people on the tube...
Who in their right mind would watch a bunch of “actors” patting themselves on the back for the garbage they produce? I’d rather shovel snow.
“Oprah-therapy”?
Sounds like some people just needed some drunk at the local bar to just give a ‘give-a-damn’ speech.
Makes you wonder how they’d react if this was the typical Vince Lombardi speech on leadership.
That is why they call it “programming”.
They “program” the clueless idiots among us.
Everyone knows most of these women willingly did things to advance their careers and now they are washed-up has been it’s all the man’s fault. Easy to clear one’s conscience when accusations are considered proof.
The jokes were pedantic reruns of what is seen on SNL, the news and many other outlets.
Always up for a good joke, even against Trump.
But, they aren’t funny or interesting.
Most of it was oblique references to something and then a punchline that emphasised some weird morality, intellectual or spiritual superiority.
It was made uninteresting by Seth and the contrived laughter of the audience and those I was watching the show with.
You all know that sound when someone is laughing for then sake of laughing and it sounded more like they their laughter was a signal they were part of some group and that laughter , after the second or third one, actually sounds as bad as finger nails on a chalkboard and feels like pulling fingernails with pliers.
To be fair Jennifer Aniston was beautiful and funny, as was Dwayne Johnson.
But, that is where I stopped watching.
In the overnight ratings, average viewership fell 8% in the second and third hour.
2017 (9PM-11PM): 16.2 million viewers
2018 (9PM-11PM) : 14.9 million
For the third hour, the drop in viewership was 10%
2017: (10PM-11PM): 15.2 million
2018: (10PM-11PM): 13.7 million
Note: these numbers will be slightly different in the final ratings.
