I’ve read that the Moody Blues aren’t in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.If true that’s a travesty.
“I’d like to hear what people think the lyrics of Nights In White Satin are about.”
Never really thought about it before, and I actually used to think it was Knights in White Satin. That said, it sounds to me like a person who has missed out on the love of his life.
Good-bye to another Veteran Cosmic Rocker.
IIRC They got in this year
They are the only group whose name reflected their musical style. They played moody blues.
He had a lovely voice!
Truly a gifted musician.
Absolutely.
I have no idea what groups are popular these days, other than some of the old ones still around.
Ping.
"Nights in White Satin" is probably their best song but I never liked the longer version where they bring in the strings and spoken word poetry. That seemed a bit melodramatic and over the top to me.
Interesting sidenote, I don't watch much daytime TV but there was a court show along the lines of "People's Court" - or maybe it was Court TV, that cable channel that shows trials in their entirety, that featured a trial involving Patrick Moraz, the singer used during that 1980s era. He was suing the band for back royalties. I was fascinated with that trial as it seemed so sordid and petty for such a famous band. Anyway, if I remember, Patrick won the lawsuit but was awarded only a fraction of what he was asking for.
Me too. Just got "discharged" by my radiation doc after 3 years clean. Best Christmas gift ever!
Guys, get your PSA's checked early in life and at least annually. Prostate cancer does not have to be a killer.
The key to Prostate cancer is early detection. I would suspect that Mr. Thomas did not have regular PSA testing done. Good luck to you as we are in the same boat (cancer-wise).
Sorry to hear this. I don’t know all their music by any means, but quite a few I do know are so wonderful. Nights in White Satin is my most favourite one by them.
I did a post about them not so long ago:

I heard somewhere that he wrote some letters that he will not be able to send.
On the MB’s song “Go Now”, Denny Laine sang lead and played guitar.
After that first album, he left the MB and joined a little band on the run called “Wings”.
Rip.
One of my all time favorite groups. As I was reading this, I just realized a coincidence. The first time I heard Moody Blues was at a co-workers home when I was in the Air Force back in 72. I remember hearing The Story in Your Eyes on is big Quad Channel stereo and thought “I have to get that album!” Been a fan ever since.
