But Californians also work hard, not least those in the entertainment industry. “She saw her dad busting his butt,” said Dunn Bates, referring to Thomas Markle, a TV lighting director. “The path she chose – actress – is very hard. You have to be very disciplined about it.”

I don't know anything much about the Kardashians; however, newspapers have run pictures of them re wedding etc. and used the name instead of "TRASH".
I have not watched the CROWN, and there is definitely verification for those claims re: Wallis Simpson, hubby/Nazi stuff.
With regard to everything else pertaining to the monarchy though, it is just a TV show at the end of the day. no?
I would imagine that the monarchy is far more boring and yet far more noble (in character) than people may give it credit for...I like how King George is given his due today with regard to how he stepped up his game during WWII after his brother’s abdication.

Other than being divorced, she seems to have the perfect resume by American standards and not outdated suffocating British standards about “must be blue-blood” this or that...Even Kate Middle would have failed that test as a so called “commoner.”
