This bowl season was one that Pac-12 teams would not mind forgetting. With three-fourths of the conference headed to bowl games, there was potential for the Pac-12 to have an impressive showing and prove that despite not having a team qualify for the College Football Playoff, it is still one of the better Power-5 conferences. Instead, Utah was the only one of the nine teams to win its bowl game and the Pac-12 ended the bowl season with the worst record ever for a Power-5 Conference for an entire bowl season.

Really as far as the playoffs go, I feel only Clemson and Oklahoma are contenders. It really does not matter who was fourth seed or even third.
If you follow the SEC, the head honchos require each team play a gimme game two or three weeks out from the end of the season. This gives each team an easy victory and the ability to rest players while keeping their rankings. I was confused this and last year why AL was playing Dinky State U in the middle of a heated conference chase. It makes sense now.
I noticed a trend this year of having a local team (or day trip range) vs an away team in the bowls. It did seem to cut down on the empty seats, but it sort of defeats the purpose of using a bowl game to bring in tourists.
Orange - Miami
Peach - Auburn
Cheribundi - FAU
Frisco - SMU
Bad Boys - FIU
Academy - Texas
Alamo - TCU
Belk - Wake Forest
Music City - Kentucky
Liberty - Memphis
Differences in attendance were particularly noticable between the Liberty and the bowl formerly known as Gator.
Not either....no way in hell.
I’m an ASU fan so I have no dog in the fight.
USC - 2 losses, soft schedule and soft conference. They play in PAC 12 that went 1-8 in bowl games (worst conference record in bowls ever).
O ST -2 losses including loss to Iowa (8-5) where they got the crap kicked out of them.
AL only lost to Auburn, themselves a very tough team.
Hard to bet against Clemson for the championship.
“but for most contests, it is obvious neither team cares.”
and neither do their alumni and the rest of their fans considering how empty the stadiums are ...
Now you get it.
Sec is weaker than Pac12 though. No way sec should have 2 teams in final 4. Hell maybe not even 1 team. How can any solid team lose in the SEC it’s so weak?
Yep SEC doesn’t belong. So why did ESPN lobby to get two teams from the Uber weak SEC? OSU rematch against OU would have been more interesting. Especially after seeing how their defense played against USC.
There are so many bowl games anymore that they should be relabeled ‘Participation Trophy Bowl 1 thru 40’ or whatever the latest number is.
Fear the Frog!
Too bad you dont.
Honestly, speaking as an Ohio State alum, none of Alabama, OSU, USC, or others belonged in the conversation for the fourth playoff spot, but the spot had to be filled. Bama had only one loss and the rep, so they got in.
That’s BS. If that’s the reason then conf. champ should have been the deciding factor. Not two teams from the same conf.
Then why not Wisconsin? Or UCF (undefeated).
I don’t want whatever’s being passed around out there.
Hows that car dealer that gave Bomar and his roommate free cars doing?

Unless, and until, the committee rids themselves of their fetish for all things Bama, the playoffs will be a joke. I hope Clemson creams Bama just like they did Ohio State last year.
It is weak and selfish for you to wish he played in a game that only offers to risk a seven figure income for him. But youre too selfish to see it, so I wont hold it against you.
USC made its reputation on cheating. Back in the 1960s and 1970s it was a standard joke that USC had at least 15 players on the field at all times (because the officials were included in the count).
Wisconsin.
I don’t like Wisconsin, but this season they were the real deal. They handled Miami “handily.”
pac12 didn’t do well. 1-8!
keep that up and your power5 card will be rejected.
