The teen stabbed her friend to impress ‘Slender Man’ ...sentenced to 25 years...mental hospital

Before her sentencing, Weier apologized, according to the AP.

“I do hold myself accountable for this and that I will do whatever I have to do to make sure I don’t get any sort of delusion or whatever again,” Weier said. “I want everybody involved to know I deeply regret everything that happened that day. I know that nothing I say is going to make this right and nothing I say is going to fix what I broke.”

The case drew national attention in 2014 because of the age of the victim and attackers — all just 12 at the time of the stabbing — and their peculiar motive. Morgan Geyser and Weier lured their classmate, Payton Leutner, into the woods in a Milwaukee suburb after a slumber party. There, Geyser stabbed Leutner 19 times with Weier’s encouragement.

The attackers both told detectives they needed to kill Leutner to become proxies, or servants, to Slender Man, a demonlike creature they read about online who is often depicted as a spidery figure in a black suit with a featureless white face. The girls said they were compelled to kill to protect themselves and their families from the demon, and after the slaying planned to run away to the demon’s mansion, which they believed was in the Nicolet National Forest in Wisconsin.

Geyser and Weier were both originally charged with attempted first-degree intentional homicide, which carries a possible sentence of up to 65 years in prison.

“Slender man”? Sounds like there is some fat shaming going on here. Why not just “Mysterious Man,” or “Demon Man”? Why do they have to highlight that he’s slender?

One thing’s for sure from that name. They didn’t do it for me.

I find it impossible to believe that both of the girls are mentally ill. The odds of that are slim to none.

This has been a REALLY long slog for Wisconsinites. I’m sure it will be a ‘Dateline’ or a ‘20/20’ feature in the future. So totally crazy, all the way around!

The parents of these nutcases must’ve had some Very Big Money and O.J.-level lawyers to let this play out for nearly four years. Four Years!

And still, really NO JUSTICE for the little girl that will bear the physical and emotional scars for the rest of her life. If she makes it to adulthood without drug or alcohol abuse, I’ll be surprised. HOW do you recover from your friends stabbing you dozens of times and leaving you for dead? I mean, we played pranks at Slumber Parties at that age - but I don’t recall anyone getting all, ‘stabby’ about it.

I have mixed emotions on what would be best for these stone cold KILLERS. I don’t think these girls were insane. I think they are EVIL.

Sentenced to a mental institution instead of prison.

Somehow, I don’t see where that’s an improvement (if you are a die-hard liberal who hates to see people go to prison). Instead of being treated like prisoners, they’ll be subjected to mental “treatment” and drugs. Hopefully, there is some sort of provision to prevent their release if some liberal shrink declares them cured.

Almost sounds like a typical back story to a 70s slasher movie

“25 years later....”

Media promotes chaos and the occult and then plays dumb when young girls get caught up in the media’s BS game.

By that I mean that the media was complicit is spreading the fake new “mysterious” Slender Man. These girls didn’t invent it.

Now that I’m past 60, I can tell that 25 years is not really all that long. These gals should remain in custody.
All three families are most likely shattered by this event.
At least the victim will not have to testify in court, and dredge all this cold black slime back up into her consciousness.

At least she’ll have an imaginary boyfriend for 25 years.

I agree. And I don’t think they believed in some comic book character either. I think they were just mean little $hits, and thought they could stab that girl dead, and that nobody would ever know it was them.

They weren’t running away to a castle in the woods...they were gonna go home like normal.

You nailed it, they weren’t BOTH crazy, and in the same way, in the same time.

Anne Perry, the author, only got 5 years when she participated in a murder when she was 15.

These girls are at least getting more.

Sociopathy is a form of mental illness.

You could argue that most criminals are mentally ill. I’m not certain that such an argument would help to reach the end goal, which is to minimize the amount of crime.

Are mental institutions any more or less punitive than prisons? I think they are considerably more expensive to run. I also think that the cure rate of mental illness is extremely low. So, with everything considered, what is the best all-around solution to crime?

*GASP* Wow! I’ll have to look into that. I know the author, but I’ve not read any of her books.

WOW!

your are right. but there is some slight differences. the sociopath wanted to hurt some one and was very much aware that it was not socially acceptable . the other girl a schizophrenic. thought she had to do it or her and her family would be the target. for one girl it was first degree murder and special circumstances if she had been successful. the other one it was a lesser charge of murder. personally as someone who suffers from mental illness myself I think they should change the law to a designation of guilty and mentally ill. Most times the claim of mental illness is used successfully it is by extremely wealthy people and is a manipulation of the justice system.

Just to clear this up: it was homicide, not attempted homicide. The victim didn’t survive.
