We have finally done it ! Gone Baby Gone
Excellent advice...and so true!
Good choice - welcome to the real world.
Charleston is amazing. You guys should go there for a long weekend soon and check it out. What great food and such a beautiful city, so much history. Friendly people. Homes are so much cheaper there too. Just dont choose a flood zone.
I got to go there about 8 times in 3 years when my parents were moved there. Definitely check it out. Weather in fall and spring was identical to SoCal if SoCal ever had any refreshing rain.
The low country, James Island area is very cool. Best Regards.
Good for you. You’re useful down there protecting our country where votes matter. CA and NY should lose electoral votes with all the population they hemorrhage. All Republicans should aim to leave those states as they are too far gone.
West Virginia is the great Virginia. My mom moved there from NY. They were considering VA for the longest time, but it worked out for them.
what took you so long?
With that accent, when down South (and when toward the Southwest) don't say "picante sauce" and "New York City" in the same sentence.
Just kidding. Hardly anybody takes picante sauce that seriously.
What is more serious is the difference between yankees, damn yankees, and goddamed yankees.
A yankee is like youse guys, from "up there" (specially from East of the Appalachians).
A damn yankee is a yankee who travels down South to visit (often during the winter).
A g-d yankee is a yankee who goes down South and stays.
You can't help it that you're a yankee.
Try to not act like one?
In flash of inspiration -- one answer to "what would not acting like a yankee consist of?" came to me.
Whenever it comes to mind, ask yourself -- what would a MassHole do in this situation? Then, don't do that.
Even Massholes could possibly approve of this message...
I’m very pleased for you, and I hope you enjoy South Carolina. The state parks are nice!
Columbia? Maurice’s...mmm-good! Not to mention right up I-26 to Greenviile, upcountry and the western North Carolina mountains...the other direction to Charleston and beaches! Enjoy!
Binghamton area?
Congratulations! Wish I could pull it together to get out.
I left NY for CT years ago. I’d love to get out of CT now that’s it’s ruined but family keeps me here. :^(
Yep, grew up in Endwell.
I married a Ventura Co, CA girl. Her parents, her sister/BIL, paternal uncle/aunt, maternal uncle/aunt, and four (4) 1st cousins all live in CA (Temecula, Anza, El Cajon, Downey, Thousand Oaks, Paso Robles, San Diego, and Burbank).
Anyways, I married my wife 8 years ago when all of them lived in CA. When my sister in law moved to ID, it was a family shock and shame....then the parents went to visit them. Freedom, beauty, and people leaving you the hell alone.
My in laws stayed in CA while they watched EVERYONE move to CO, NV, WY, and ID. Now they are the only ones left. Guess what they are doing for XMAS? They are painting and doing new carpet. They are getting ready to leave. Think of that. 20 productive, smart Californians....all moderate or conservative (FIL and BIL are John Birchers) are leaving the state.
Anyways, all it takes is one...and the rest will come.
And is crammed full of senile seniors from the NE and Midwest who don’t know how to drive and then that number is doubled when the snowbirds come down for the winter when you can’t get anywhere because of even more senile drivers who are lost.
Add to that you’ll get arrested if you expose your pistol transporting it from your car to your house even tho you have a CCW permit....
Born in Florida during WWII, lived in Miami Beach, Miami (grad work at UofM), lived & worked in Gainesville, Orlando and Naples and moved to beautiful Virginia 45 years ago. Hate all the taxes here and that the Marxists from NOVA have stolen our state, but love it otherwise.
4 seasons, beaches to mountains and everything in between, heavily forested and reasonable cost of living....only going back to FLA to visit occasionally........
Oh - forgot to add that SC is a great place to go.....would move myself if our 8 kids & their kids didn’t live here.....
It sure was sweet Bob !
“...Aaaaah Texas......its a whole other country......;)...”
Yep. Absolutely. Tejas will still be there even after the rest of em are long gone.
It has the infrastructure and resources to become a self-sufficient entity.
Even the electrical grid is designed for it. Ocean ports, agriculture, oil/gas, manufacturing, 80mph speed limits, etc.....just hotter than hell in the summer....LOL
