My leashed bulldog and I have had to defend ourselves from two different black labrador retrievers who attacked us on a public road.
So you `good dog’ owners—control your dogs or they will face pepper spraying, possibly a batoning as well or worse.
Nahhh, it’s the dangerous,intimidating, fearsome traits that APPEAL to people. Make’s em feel powerful to think they can control Godzilla dogs. “Look, I’ve tamed the most violent dogs on the planet and they WUV me!” Until they don’t...That is the only ‘why’ when it comes to choosing Pit Bull’s instead of the host of other dogs available.
We had two several years ago that looked just like that. They were a cross of Rottweiler and Catahoula Leopard hound. Both were brindle and both were big. One was 125 pounds and the other was closer to 150 pounds. They were fierce as protection dogs but loyal to us. The breeder bred them to hunt hogs but both made good companions. Both would sit between me and a stranger and not move. They would show teeth, quietly growl, and raise hackles but never tried to bite anybody. If the stranger moved they would stand up and growl louder. Of course, nobody tried to approach me very often so they didn’t need to bite. They were very well trained.
My guess is that she’s one of those that would defend how sweet her pit bulls were.
Sad she got killed but she made the decision to own them. I would have rather it been this way than some innocent children or elderly person being mauled to death by her dogs.
BTW, Pit Bulls and German Shepard’s are the only two breeds I don’t like and refuse to have.
Never have a pet where you have to carry a sidearm at all times...just in case.
I have two big working dogs and live in the mountains. I carry a sidearm or a 12 bore for bears, cougars, coyotes and such. In the towns around here I carry because there are a lot of (mostly young) people who have pit bulls because they think it makes them tough. They are incredibly stupid, usually have lots of tats, and like meth. I see a pit bull and I immediately go on alert.
I had to stabilize an 8 year old girl in 2015 who had half her face torn off by grandma’s pit bull. I pulled the sheriff deputy who was investigating into the exam room and asked him what he was going to do about that. He went back to granny’s house and properly Glocked that bastard. I learned later that is the standing order in our county for vicious dogs. Thank you Sheriff Wheeler!

It sounds like these ex-pets are not candidates for rescue. The owner doesn’t appear to be a likely abuser, either.
They are evil pure and simple. Nothing safe about them. Impossible to raise them to be nice. Pit Bulls are evil.

There is another world out there besides Manhattan and DC. Sounds like you live a rather rustic life in a no bs zone. Not for the average democrat. Never know what you might run into so a prudent person should be heeled. Good work amigo.

I know someone who has a dog just like that. When I first saw their dog, I said “pit bull”, they claim it’s a pointer. I still say, pit bull.
