During the presentation, an officer who spent 28 years with the department questioned a statistic presented at the conference, that members of the transgender community are 3.32 times as likely to be the victim of police violence than non-transgender people, according to WRTV.

I find it extremely credible that, on average, transsexuals might come into contact with the police more frequently than normal people, and hence might

a) talk with police more frequently;

b) get into arguments with police more frequently;

c) get into heated altercations... etc.

In short: This statistic says nothing about whether police action against trannies is justified or not - only that it is more frequent.
