"Wealth" is nothing more than money you didn't spend on bling, Escalades and hoes but saved or invested it in something.
People who spend every penny they acquire on bling, Escalades and hoes as soon as they acquire it will never have "wealth" no matter how much of other people's money you confiscate and give to them.
"Net worth" involves the current market value of all things owned (bank accounts,investment accounts,houses,Escalades,etc) minus the total amount owed to others.

What you said. Wealth comes from sacrificing or at least deciding that saving is more important than spending.
It could be suggested that, for those who see the rest of us as a Plan B to shore up their needs when they choose not to save for themselves, it is probably easier to spend everything.
I would imagine that the loan debt on them Escalades is part of the equation. Just as the fact that we own our house and vehicles outright increases our net worth....
