I've seen 19 out of 20 (all but "The Robe"). How about you?

American film was a huge chunk of my homeschooling experience. I've seen everything on that list except "Demetrias" and "Peyton Place." Seen, and often studied them.

16 of them for me. But if we could count multiple watches I’m at 32.

I have seen them all. But I haven’t seen 20 movies in the last 20 years unless you count “It’s a Wonderful Life” every year in December.

Demetrias and the Gladiators is definitely worth seeing. I think it is a much better movie that the Robe (and I like the Robe).

I’m going to say 15. Although, my memory is a bit faded. I haven’t watched much in the way of movies for about 20 years. I don’t own a TV and the few I have watched have been off YouTube and mostly not made by Hollywood. “Ghost in the Shell” is good. I recently watched a blooper reel by James Arness. What struck me was, the men looked manly and the women looked appealing. My, what a difference. Here it is.

Why is “High Noon” not on the list and “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”?
And “Roman Holiday”?

Interesting. There were two I haven't seen: Demetrias and the Gladiators and Peyton Place.

I confess to minuscule attraction to modern movie fare of the blockbuster persuasion.

One movie from the ‘50s (1957) that everyone should watch is ‘The D.I.’, with Jack Webb. One of two movies we watched on Parris Island in 1989. The other was ‘Sands of Iwo Jima’ with John Wayne.

Probably all at one time or another, many I recall vividly from childhood.

Now ask me how many of the 1990s...2000s....2010s....(crickets)

Why is “High Noon” not on the list and “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”? And “Roman Holiday”?

Because it's a list of the top 20 highest grossing films of the 1950's.

"High Noon" is #57, "Breakfast at Tiffany's" was made in 1961, and "Roman Holiday" is #73.
