Yes, the Russians are coming to help fight fires here in California with their amphibious Be-200 firefighting aircraft. The plan has not yet been finalized, just a handshake agreement between Russia and US. The Be-200 aircraft will be stationed in Santa Maria. Yes, we could use their help. Keep you posted. Wow! Mars flying boat is late 1930’s, IIRC.
All kinds of now-historic flying boats were cannibalized for their aluminum right after WWII, including the Boeing 314 Clipper, of which none remain except one which ditched at sea in 1950 & was scuttled as a menace to navigation. Wherever it lies on the ocean bottom, it’s the only one left.

The Be-200 is a marvelous aircraft. Several videos on YouTube are well worth watching.
Coupled with all the updraft from the heat of the fire they're fighting, plus the pilot's desire to get up and away for another run.

I’ve been asking who set that latest wildfire every time I watch the news. Sure are a lot of expensive homes going up in flames in a concentrated area. Close to Bel Air, I hear.
