Coyote Attacks 3-Year-Old on Front Porch of Washington Home

Families in a Washington state community have noticed an uptick in coyote sightings lately. Within a 24-hour span, the city of Snoqualmie received seven reports of coyotes in the area—including an attack on a 3-year-old girl while she was on her porch, according to KCPQ.

Douglas Lucas says his daughter was attacked by a coyote who came up to the front porch of their home and pounced on the child on Thursday.

“It bite me,” said 3-year-old Sophia about her encounter with a coyote.

The little girl was outside with her father on the front porch of their home. Lucas was up on the ladder hanging Christmas lights when the coyote came up to the house. Lucas said it was right after dark that the coyote approached.

He says within seconds the coyote pounced on Sophia, making her fall from the impact.

“The coyote came from behind, knocked Sophia," said grandmother Susan Chavez. "She landed on her mouth."

A toddler is small enough to appear to be prey to a coyote. Watch not just your pets when coyotes are around, but small children.

These predators are only good for killing. In Michigan we can kill coyote year round, at will.

Wolves are the same. Nothing worthwhile about this kind of wildlife. In New Mexico children wait at bus stops in giant cages to keep them safe from wolves.

It is long past time the PUKE Sierra club and friends were put down.

Quick Washington state, confiscate all guns! When folks can no longer defend themselves, predators (coyotes in this case) will stop their attacks. That’s what liberals tell me, anyway.

Where in NM is that? I live here and have traveled extensively around the state with work, but have never seen a cage at school bus stops.

These families need to go to Acme.com and purchase a huge oblong rock that's grayish in color and can balance on a stick, explosives, red rockets, paint that when used can create life-like tunnels, and a giant slingshot.

Then you set these products out in the open. That will stop these predators dead in its track, because they will use them and the equipment will backfire on them.

Google search on coyote cages at school bus stops yielded this story:

Agreed. That also goes for domestic dogs and cats. I will put them down in a heart beat.

Two fatal coyote attacks have been confirmed by experts:
On August 26, 1981, an urban coyote grabbed a three-year-old girl named Kelly Keen in the driveway of her mother and father’s home in Glendale, California and dragged her across the street. Her father rescued her by chasing the animal away and rushed her to Glendale Adventist Medical Center, but she died in surgery due to blood loss and a broken neck because of the incident.[2][4]
On October 27, 2009, two eastern coyotes mauled a nineteen-year-old singer-songwriter named Taylor Mitchell at Cape Breton Highlands National Park in Nova Scotia. She was on a break from her concert tour when they stalked and chased her down on the Skyline Trail. An air ambulance airlifted Taylor to Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre, but she died after midnight from severe injuries and blood loss that were sustained during the incident.[5]

************************************************************

Since 1981, that’s nearly 40 years, there have been 2 fatal attacks by coyotes on humans. As a multi gun owner myself, and avid outdoorsmen, I have no objection to people killing them here and there if their menacing their children or whatever. But, I am not in favor to wiping them out and I can assure you they provide a valuable service to our ecosystem.

There was a coyote running around our neighborhood in Marietta, GA last year. We only saw it real early in the morning but I have been sleeping in for a while. Marietta is a large city in the Atlanta Metro area, 20 miles from downtown.

I don’t like the pukes at the Sierra club either,
We agree on that much.

Years ago our kids wanted to camp out in the back yard. It was just a few acres in west central Minnesota (we’ve since moved), but there were coyotes. About 1:30 in the morning a pack went by our tent. Not only could I hear the howls, but their footfalls seemed to be all around us. No one else woke up, but in a panic I felt around counting to make sure all the kids were there just in case anyone had chosen that time to run to the house to use the bathroom. Creepiest moment of my life.

I am not a fan of coyotes.

I agree, it would be stupid to. Make war
On them.

The best protection for small kids is a
Good sized outside dog.

I will say this, I live in Texas but during the move I probably DROVE here like 20 times, often and I don’t remember how many times I’d run into young Alabama and Mississippi boys in camouflage. Practically everytime I asked them “what you hunting for?” They’d say coyotes.

It’s a crying shame you people tear down their monuments.

Western state animal worshipers murder children and rob agricultural producers. They should take themselves and their idolatrous religion back to Europe.
