You learn something every day. You did, however, omit the obvious. How do you think the black widow spider got its name?
I typed the latter into Bing, and this came up:
‘Spider cannibalism is the act of a spider consuming all or part of another individual of the same species as food. In the majority of cases a female spider kills and eats a male spider before, during, or after copulation.’

I have one of the most common house spiders that show up in my house. They tend to appear in a small group, hatching out from their hidden egg cluster at about the same time. I collect them in a plastic cup and take them outside. They were good with each other. They didn't eat each other up, being the same type of spider, until one time when I put one little naughty one of them in the cup. I was so shocked that he/she was a cannibal. He ate the buddy spider right up. I took him outside, but was tempted to annihilate his/her nasty little self.
