Jim Nabors 'Gomer Pyle' Dead at 87

Jim Nabors, who starred in the massive '60s hit 'Gomer Pyle,' died Thursday.
Nabors became famous as the bumbling deputy sheriff on "The Andy Griffith Show" and then went on to do his own show, which ran for 5 years.
He also appeared in movies, including "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas" and "Cannonball Run II."
He also was an accomplished singer, who recorded 28 albums and scored 5 gold and 1 platinum records.
One of his iconic songs is the staple of the Indie 500 ... "Back Home Again in Indiana." He last appeared at the race in 2014.

Thanks for the link. I think the plot to the show was that he lost his voice, but then got it back just in time for his performance. I remember watching that show and being amazed at how well Gomer could sing!

In many respects, Frank Sutton did blow a gasket. He died of a massive coronary not long after Gomer Pyle went off the air.

Ugh. Loved Jim Nabors as lovable Gomer Pyle when I was a kid, and loved some of the Christmas songs he did.
I've never gotten over the news that he was gay, though. I'm still in shock.
May Jim Nabors Rest in Peace...

I’m so done with “speaking no ill of the dead.” Nabors was an ardent homosexual activist, therefore an enemy of the free world and Western Civilization. He “married” his long-time male companion in Washington state. Anyone who defiles that institution as such is an enemy of mine.

I do not know what the cause of death was. He was with his partner living in Hawaii for 40 years.

I apologize - I thought it was common knowledge that both were homosexual - never saw/heard anything bad about Nabors but Rock had Aids and put others in danger - even though he made an attempt to minimize the danger. Anyway - sorry for jumping down your throat.
