Russell Simmons is stepping down from his companies in the wake of an accusation of harassment and sexual assault. Simmons, the founder of hip-hop music label Def Jam Recordings and CEO of Rush Communications, released a statement on Thursday after screenwriter Jenny Lumet accused him of forcing her to have sex with him in 1991. She detailed the encounter in a guest column published by The Hollywood Reporter on Thursday. "I have been informed with great anguish of Jenny Lumet's recollection about our night together in 1991," Simmons said in a statement. "I know Jenny and her family and have seen her several times over the years since the evening she described. While her memory of that evening is very different from mine, it is now clear to me that her feelings of fear and intimidation are real. While I have never been violent, I have been thoughtless and insensitive in some of my relationships over many decades and I sincerely and humbly apologize."

Any example of sexual harassment can be shown to be the result of leftist/progressive ideology.
The answer to all these phony “apologies,” after being exposed by their victims, should be ,”SUE!” After shelling out millions, they would really be sorry.
I’m really enjoying the Leftist Hollywood-media-entertainment industrial complex getting nailed - but this particular case is now 26 years old, very likely could have been consensual at the time, and perhaps she’s only now having regrets (or needs money for a new lexus...)
“Stepping down” is meaningless. He will still be worth $340 million and will still be a free man.
He raped a woman. He should be charged criminally and convicted and sent to prison. His net worth should be radically diminished by civil suits on behalf of the victim(s).
That is what we call “consequences”. Stepping down from a made-up job in a company you own is nothing.
If he was Al Franken he could just say he’s sorry.

Let me guess is his statement will go something along the lines of...”Some of the allegations are untrue, but it is true that I have made some mistakes. I’ll be doing some soul-searching and doing my best to become a better person.”
Stepping down just means he won’t be there.

Wondered how long it would take for this to hit the music industry. Last night there was an tv ad for an attorney ready to file sexual harassment lawsuits.
It is important to stop and give thanks to the person who caused this great neutralization of these liberal icons; Hillary Clinton (The Gift That Keeps on Giving.TM) It was Hillary’s constant vilification of Trump for his supposed sexual harassment that caused women to come forward in solidarity and report how they had been harassed. It just so happens that sexual harassment and liberal views go hand-in-hand. So the women only had liberal Hillary supporters to report. Still, they came forward because their solidarity with Hillary was much more important than who they were exposing...and destroying.
Again, thank you, Hillary.
