Amber Alert: Search for 3-year-old Mariah Woods enters day 4
WLOS ^ | Nov. 30, 2017 | Kristy Steward

Onslow County, N.C. (WLOS) —

Onslow County Sheriff Hans Miller is asking local residents who want to help in the search for a missing 3-year-old girl to check their own property.

A statewide Amber Alert was issued for Mariah Woods after she was reported missing from her home outside of Jacksonville early Monday morning.

Sheriff Miller said in a press conference Wednesday that property owners should look around their homes for any clues that might help find Mariah Woods.

The FBI joined the search Tuesday.

Mariah's biological father is questioning the reporting kidnapping, saying it's hard to believe no one in the house heard anything.

Alex Woods says he didn't know his daughter was missing until the Amber Alert was issued.

Kristy Woods, the girl's mother, told authorities she last saw Mariah about 11 p.m. Sunday when she checked on her at their home near Jacksonville. Woods said she called authorities around 6 a.m. Monday when she noticed Mariah was missing.

This is very reminiscent of the Ayla Reynolds case in Maine.

My suggestion to the family, ignore the police and especially the fbi, turn to CHRIST and go find your little girl.

Possible, but not likely to me for a 3 year old to wander off by themselves. Someone took her....she isn’t hiding in the toolshed behind the house.

For 4 days? Someone would have heard her cry. She’s been taken.

Only an odd thing....but no one in the family bothered to call the true-father of the girl missing when the cop report was turned in. He only heard about it when he saw the amber-alert. That would trigger me to ask more questions of the four folks in the house that night.

Yes, more likely she was taken, but a 3 year old can certainly get out of the house and “get away” pretty quickly in the right set of circumstances.

Oh I’ve already called it for Mommy’s boyfriend. Every 3 year old have ever met is afraid of the dark so really doubt she got up and just got in her Pink Barbie car and drove off.

I live in Jacksonville and the entire city and surrounding areas are praying for Mariah’s safe return. One of my students lives a couple of doors down from the family. He is very “street wise” and he said today that the boyfriend is suspected of being a meth dealer. The gossip going around the neighborhood is that he had something to do with Mariah’s disappearance. I know Sheriff Miller personally and I can assure you that he (along with the FBI) will get to the bottom of this. He retired after a 20 plus year career in the military, so he is not your typical “bumbling county sheriff”!

I remember my 3-year old pushed out a window screen and climbed out. The neighbors brought him back. My wife freaked out!

My instinct is on the boyfriend. I pray she will be found alive.

After reading the article, I tend to agree with you. Said the boyfriend said he checked on her, so he was the last one to acknowledge seeing her. Sounds like the tot had a bit of a disability, maybe could not really run off quickly, had she gotten away on her own.

It’s just that I see our tiny 15-month granddaughter stretching up and trying to open doors already, and recall the 2-year old grandson, in September, actually getting out of the house on his own... so it seems to be within the realm of possibility that a 3-year old could get outside on her own.

I strongly suspect the police need to dredge any nearby ponds, or look for freshly turned earth in any nearby woods.
Either mom or the boyfriend killed her by beating her to death in a rage.

Statement Analysis has some thoughts on this and they don’t look good for the mother.

If boyfriend is a meth dealer he probably sold her in a drug trade.
