Yikes. I use Listerine twice a day, religiously.
I'm hoping this is one of those "saccharine causes cancer" type findings that shows that you'd have to eat a mountain of the stuff to increase your risks of cancer.

The impact stayed the same when the researchers controlled for age, sex, smoking, physical activity, alcohol consumption and other factors.I don't see "weight" in that list.

Yikes. I use Listerine twice a day, religiously. When Listerine first went to market it was to be used to scrub your bathroom floor with.

1. Why didn’t they have a control group of fat Puerto Ricans who used no mouth wash at all?
2. It’s my understanding that, in just minutes after using mouth wash, your mouth is filled back up with replacements for the critters you killed.
3. As an aside, whiteners are put into toothpaste to give you that bright smile you see in the morning mirror. But by the time you get to work, your teeth brightness is right back to where it was.

No offense but using mouthwash is like ancient times perfuming to mask odors, definitively a bad hygiene practice.
Odor coming from rotting food traces must be removed by brushing and flossing and not masked by mouthwash or chewing gums. In practice, brushing alone is never enough (no matter what the ads tell us), the only way to have a clean mouth is flossing, one of the best modern inventions IMHO.

90% of the people who died in car accidents consumed carrots at least once in the six months prior to the accident.
Be careful out there !

This is probably due to people who eat more sugar and carbs having worse breath due to a heavier bacteria load.
