Garrison Keilor Fired?

So who was his secret "Prairie Home Companion"?

Lake Wobegon is a quintessentially Minnesota small town characterized by the narrator as "... where all the women are strong (they need to be to fend off gropers), all the men are good-looking (oooh....was he hitting on men, too?), and all the children are above average (....and I truly hope protected from predators)."

Well this much I know from 20+ years at a Fortune 50 company...in the corporate world the way sexual harassment is dealt with is this: Someone makes an assessment of the claim and unless they are totally baseless, starts a discussion about a settlement with the complainant and her lawyer. Severance pay can be a convenient tool. The person leaves the company with a nice check and a signed copy of a confidentiality agreement that puts them in legal jeopardy if they ever disclose the terms of the agreement.

I am not exaggerating one bit to say in large companies this happens every single day. More than once a day even.

The company avoids costly lawsuits, the person who was accused gets some consequences that can range from firing to training or counselling to nothing at all (depending obviously on the level and importance of the person in question - at the “C level” these incidents are considered part of the cost of doing business and there are seldom consequences unless the person violates confidentiality and goes to the media. Very seldom happens.

Keeping things like this quiet is good for business. No disruption, no angry shareholders, no nothing because no one knows. Including the other co-workers who are likely to become future victims.

So you see, the lower on the food chain an abuser is, the more likely he will pay a high price, and the word of his misdeeds will get out as a warning to others. This is why we’re not seeing a flood of these incidents from the highest levels, which until now have enjoyed the protection of their employers covering up for them.

Oh no! Johnny can you get this? Oh, they're crashing to the earth right in front of our eyes! One just went through the windshield of a parked car! This is terrible! Everyone's running around pushing each other. Oh my goodness! Oh, the humanity! People are running about. Celebs are hitting the ground like sacks of wet cement!

Big question for me with this guy is, did he abuse/grope/harass a boy or a girl? Answer not obvious to me.

a real hot item

I believe Keiller is one of the great story tellers. Maybe the Mark Twain of our age, at least orally. His Lake Woebegon is classic. When he married and moved to NY his liberalism became more extreme. His last 4 months he was rabid anti-trump to the point I turned it off. I miss the pre-New York Keiller.

The new guy is a very good musician and he draws musicians to the show, as did Keiller. Also, he ha sa comic on every week. I like the radio and i still like the show. They have the full catalogues available on lone and that goes back before NY.

...allegations of his inappropriate behavior with an individual who worked with him.

No mention of gender. Isn't that the same as when race is not mentioned it is a clear indicator of the race involved?

Since you are more than likely ‘saying’ what I think you are saying, guess ‘that’ lifestyle is not going to be spared this go around.

I wonder how much of the money ‘missing’ in the ‘sex fund’ is attributed to Bwanny Flank???

Okay. I guess its time for me to come out of the closet. Don’t get me wrong, but there were times, in moments of weakness, where I would listen to PHC. And I kinda like Ira Glass. Click and Clack. Wait wait ...don’t tell me (yeah, with Paula Poundstone). Now, I never pledged a dime, but...but, Oh, I feel so dirty.
