Celebs are taking a stand against manspreading — the annoying habit men have of obnoxiously spreading their legs too far apart while sitting, especially on a public bus or train — by uncrossing their legs.

Womanspreading is the new female power stance taking over Instagram where ladies crouch or sit down in an open leg position and casually vogue for the camera.

“Women are realizing they don’t have to conform to any so called ‘appropriate ladylike’ way to sit,” pop culture expert Valerie Greenberg tells Moneyish. “It’s a movement that says we’re equally powerful.”

In the 60's I rode the elevated and subways in NYC to get to school and work. The worst offenders were always black men. They would sit in the subway car seats with legs spread almost at a 180-degree angle. And they would never close them up, no matter how many people needed to sit down. In rush hour. No one ever challenged them. Today I think it would be different. Most of the female office secretaries who were real lookers just stood up and held onto the straps. Kind of a turn-on watching them, cuz holding the strap was almost like a BDSM thing they did, and it raised the hems of their skirts so you got a real good look at their thighs in those nylon stockings. Especially if you were sitting in the seats on the opposite side of the car. Was a real "trip" as a teenager in NYC ridin' those trains.

In the South, most men stand and let the women have the seat. In the North, liberated women complained about this “sexist” behavior so I gather that men don’t and I understand. Now these women are complaining about how these men sit. It gets old. Very old.
