I think it's time to require football refs and officials to hold post-game press conferences. After all, more often than not, it is they who have some 'splainin' to do. After each game, let the refs explain to an adversarial press every bad call.
If the head coaches have to explain their winnings and losses, why don't the refs have to explain their miscues?
I would even go further. I think the names, addresses, and phone numbers of every official should be posted on the stadium scoreboard and your home TV screen.
I no longer watch or care about football games.
I haven’t watched in over 2 years.
What’s this ‘football’ you speak of?
Methinks thine team hath been scourged by the fire of unfavorable decisions.
I could get behind the press conference idea, but there is no reason whatsoever to provide their home address. What were you thinking to suggest that?

There is one way the refs can cheat, admit they made a “mistake” and no one can do anything about it.
The inadvertent whistle.
Well this subject may stir the pot.
Are we saying there is evidence the referees are trying to tip the balance in close plays, to favor certain players or teams, and hurt others?
I don’t watch enough sports to have ever seen such evidence but waiting to see what people say.
I think the names, addresses, and phone numbers of every official should be posted on the stadium scoreboard and your home TV screen.
Your pissed about some game. Why don’t you lead by example and post you Name, Phone Number & home address in your reply. Then you can expect an equal response from a ref, maybe...
It was commonly believed that the refs in the old PAC 6 and PAC 8 would cheat for the top teams against the lesser ones.
Especially if they were highly ranked.
The only time I recall an official has admitted he screwed a call was during game 3 of the 1992 world series. A potential triple play was called wrongly as replays showed it so. The ump later viewed the tape post game and admitted he got the call wrong. It didn’t change the outcome of the game or series but it would have been only the second triple play in world series history. You can view the play here.

Not much is done though because I see the same ones every week.
I would hope that no one would take the second half of my suggestion seriously. But wouldn’t it be lovely?
Ahh, ya beat me to it. Got to be quicker.
I’m not pissed about some game, it’s every game. Even games when I have no favorites. If nothing else, coaches should be permiited to challenge penalty calls.
A few years ago an ACC team of referees was suspended for incompetency. The NCAA referees are graded after each game and the ones that screw up are not rehired or promoted for the next season. The quality and scrutiny is closely watched. The bowl games have the best scored crews for the season from each conference.
Give `em their own TV show. Call it “What Happened”
Do you mean high school football? Because the college system and the National Felons League is just theater anyway.
All sports franchises are suppose to check on and police their refs and umpires much like the legal system and the governments are suppose to check on and maintain a certain standard with judges.
They don’t always do a good job as ref, umpire, or judge and those who are suppose to keep them honest and above board don’t always do their jobs either. Welcome to the human condition.
