Around 22 per cent of homeowners included a bathtub large enough to fit a couple while 12 per cent upgraded their showers to accommodate two people.

The study found white was the preferred colour for walls, cabinets and bench tops - and often accented by grey flooring.

Up to 12 per cent of homeowners are getting high-tech upgrade to their bathrooms, including digital controls and built-in sound for showers and self-cleaning and overflow protection for toilets.

Eight years ago I renovated my itsy-bitsy bathroom and installed a super shower that included this showerhead - absolute heaven.

Since the bathroom was so small to save space this mirror was a godsend:

That mirror is neat. Our first home had a huge mirror in sections that you could open up, and behind them was a medicine cabinet.

A wonderful space-saver, and room for everything to be out-of-sight.

That’s amazing! And here I thought Welsh women had the corner on mad housekeeping skillz.

For some reason my grandmother always thought that German women were the best housekeepers - and German men the worst husbands. I’m not sure where she got that...

Robern are the best! I used 4 of them surrounding a niche and a room heater for brushing my hair dry, across from the sink.

We live in a town called Almuñécar on the Costa Tropical. We chose that area specifically because of the way the mountains come down to the sea, which means you can get a spectacular view without having to put up with the noise and traffic of a frontline beach house. We are a 600 meter walk from the water but on a quiet street with no traffic except for neighbors.

All those rocky outcrops also guarantee that we will never get the type of urban sprawl you see in places like Benidorm or Marbella.
