As TV Tropes puts it...
It appears that villains in the Disney Animated Canon have an especially curious tendency to exit the film by falling off or out of things. Unfortunately for them, even though they are animated characters, they cannot defy gravity.
To begin with, not every villain in the 56 films of the Disney Animated Canon dies. Quite a few of the films don't even have a villain as such! But here are the fates of the eighteen villains who actually do die:
The Evil Queen - Falls off a cliff
Maleficent - Killed with the Sword of Truth
The Horned King - Disintegrated by the Black Cauldron
Ratigan - Falls off Big Ben
Bill Sykes - Run over by a train
Ursula - Impaled by a ship's bow
Percival C. McLeach - Falls over a watefall
Gaston - Falls off a castle
Scar - Eaten alive by hyenas
Claude Frollo - Falls off Notre Dame
Shan Yu - Killed by the explosion of a giant fireworks rocket
Clayton - Hanged by the neck by jungle vines
Carnotaur - Falls off a cliff
Lyle Tiberius Rourke - Turned into crystal and shattered by a propeller
Scroop - Falls into the void of space
Doctor Facilier - Dragged to Hell
Mother Gothel - Falls off a tower, aging into dust as she does so
Turbo/King Candy - Disintegrated by flaming Mentos
So 8 out of 18 of them actually do die by falling. It's a cliche for a reason!
You forgot Bambi’s Mother. I think the Hunter used an AR-15.
Never thought of that, but looking back at old cartoons, you are completely correct!!!
Awesome. :D
LOL, and let’s not forget the guard who Mr. Incredible hits on the head with a coconut causing him to fall 40 feet onto concrete. Surely death.
And the trooper guys running into each other, into the trees, or sides of mountains in their one man flying machines with the spinning killer blades...
There was a lot of killin’ in that movie!
“No Capes!”
An analogy for life!
He was voiced by Kevin Spacey.
I’d forgotten that. Serves him right, then.
Fewer villains die by falling than parents of the hero die for whatever reason before the movie starts. It must be some Disney rule that nobody has two parents.
An analogy for life!
Indeed. I have sound files on my phone of Edna saying and screaming "No Capes!" They are used - or I'll call an audible - when warranted in any appropriate situation in the DoodleBob family. For example, if a little DoodleBob wanted a flashy hockey stick that costs more than his already-awesome stick, they get the loud "NO CAPES!!"
Edna and Jack-Jack may be my favorites from that movie.
Wile E. Coyote, the ultimate optimist. I feel for him because electing a “true conservative” and ending up with a RINO leftist who “moves to the middle” over and over leaves you feeling somewhat like that unlucky varmit.
That’s awesome. Edna was hilarious. Hope she will be in the sequel.
Hehehe...I LOVE that movie...just love it.
You are correct, that image you posted says it all!
Have you seen the teaser trailer for the sequel? Just released.
Yes, I saw both trailers...there is the Jack-Jack solo trailer, and the extended trailer with the babysitter. Priceless.
