I stumbled across this and had a wonderful laugh. This is an interview Tom Brokaw did with John Kerry just before the election in 2004 when he F-in' lost miserably to George W. Bush.
Enjoy the historical laughs.
“dear George Bus,
Thank you for destroying our number 1 enemy, Saddam Hussein, and allowing Shiite leaders who we were sheltering to move back to Iraq and take over the government. Iraq is now our No 1 ally. Thank you again.
Your friend,
Iran”
It didn’t help that G.W. Bush was the biggest punching bag for the Democrats and MSM. He had no fight in him at all unlike our current president.
He was a disaster - but not as bad a disaster as the other options shoveled up by the system.
It certainly did not.
Nonsense.
All of that is simple fact. Saddam was Iran’s no 1 enemy. And Iranian allies - who had been living in Iran as exiles - took the reins of government after we ousted Saddam. Also, their new constitution started with a homage to Sharia law.
You can call that “nonsense, “ but that just means you can’t deal with reality
Being onside with one faction of an eternal conflict at a particular time is standard but does not mean that it is permanent. Iran is not going to take over Iraq, we won’t allow it and the threat may knock some semblance of intelligence into the heads of the Arabs.
One of the major problems with the whole operation in Iraq is that the people could not and were not told that this would be a 25 yr or more commitment requiring thousands of troops as in Europe and S Korea.
We are watching a transformation of the Middle East and it will take decades, how long was the reformation.
Saddam was like a poisonous snake but you cannot live with a cobra.
Iran’s greatest enemy was the United States of America and it is not reluctant to acknowledge that. That is “reality”.
Saddam was the King of Terror and funded terrorist groups across the world, from Europe to the Philippines with the US in between. That is also “reality”. His agents were responsible for WTC 1 and, I believe, the Oklahoma City attack.
Even under Clinton a law was passed calling for a regime change in Iraq.
Sharia law is the concern of the Iraq’s not the US.
