I’d never heard of that
Saab had some two strokes back in the late 50s I think
Citroen too
I didn’t know about Subaru
Fj40 today ain’t cheep
We have had a 2001 FJ100 almost since it was born in Toyota City
280,000 mikes and my son drives it now
Best car I ever owned
I have a 2010 FJ too
You just cannot do better hardly
We own two jeeps as well a two door and four door
No question the jeeps are better in tight or very rocky off road
But that FJ 100 is luxury and off-road in spades
They were so shocked that they subsequently put on those outrigger pontoons and duplicated the test, with similar results.
They gave the Samurai a 'not acceptable' and killed the brand.
.
Today’s Jeeps have sadly devolved severely!
They “Look” like they should be impressive, but they don’t even offer a vehicle that can tackle the staging area of the Rubicon presently.
I own lots of Jeeps, but I won’t even ride in today’s jokes.
.
Th old ones had a huge engine well for the motor
We had one at deer camp
Floor pedal starter
There is still a ton of used ones for sale in the snow bird states.
They are very popular tow behinds.
You haven’t driven one then
Best off-road vehicle for the money out there
Note the old Comanche grill
No it’s an add on
As is the Jeep Compass.
Don’t know for sure, but it looks like a factory option.
Yep Suzuki. 1974 Two cylinder, two cycle engine, Sounded like a motorcycle.
I worked with the district forest ranger as a volunteer trail maker. They had a fleet of 4x4’s representing all the main US manufacturers. He said Jeep was the least reliable.
Found it!

The Brute IV’s air-cooled, two-cylinder, two-stroke powerplant delivered 25 hp at 6,000 rpm. The engine featured a parallel twin alternate-firing two-stroke design, with 180-degree opposed crank throws. For the performance buffs, an optional bolt-on hop-up kit boosted the engine output by 6 hp. To say that this engine relied on a flat power curve for torque was a tongue-in-cheek understatement.
I worked on both many of the Jeeps from the early CJs on up & also quite a few Toyota FJ Cruisers. The Toyota was by far better built. Jeeps were always overpriced for what you got which was usually ancient technology.
I love two strokes in Race bikes
Cars I’m more suspect
Just Enough Essential Parts........JEEP

It’s on my “bucket list” for if I ever win the Lotto. I drove that Jeep on every kind of terrain in S. Korea and on it’s then latest (nearly deserted) “super highway” from just a mile or two south-east of Seoul down to Daegu. It’s really a vehicle like a race car in that you the driver and the vehicle are like a unit working together and you can feel it. No it will never win many kind of races, but the car-driver experience is very similar. It’s a raw connection.
