Wow. Those Brits —I mean Irish sure are picky about labels! But she didn't say "Britain." She said "United Kingdom", which is a separate and distinct country from where she was, the Republic of Ireland. The UK is England, Scotland and Northern Ireland (Ulster).
it would be like a going to Canada and saying, "It's so nice to be here in the States."

I guess they haven’t forgotten about The Troubles.And you might be a knowing that "The Troubles" happened in Northern Ireland which is still part of the United Kingdom, praise be.
Ireland has been independent of the United Kingdom for a hundred years.
