In a speech on the House floor Wednesday, Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) called for special counsel Robert Mueller to resign or be fired over his indisputable conflicts of interest.
We are at risk of a coup d'état in this country if we allow an unaccountable person with no oversight to undermine the duly-elected President of the United States, Gaetz said. That is precisely what is happening right now with the indisputable conflicts of interest that are present with Mr. Mueller and others at the Department of Justice.
I join in calling for Mr. Muellers resignation or his firing, Gaetz continued.
Last week, Gaetz introduced a resolution that argues Mueller is compromised because he served as FBI director when the Obama administration signed off on a deal allowing a Russian company to purchase a Canadian energy company with uranium operations in the U.S. in 2010.
These deeply troubling events took place when Mr. Mueller was the Director of the FBI. As such, his impartiality is hopelessly compromised. He must step down immediately, Gaetz said in a statement Friday.

Uhm, what is "getting Muellered" for a thousand Alex?
And exactly why would anyone think this? Because they would like to think that's what he should do? Doesn't excuse their devotion to defending all things Mueller, nor their attacks on good conservatives like Gaetz and Ghomert.
Can anybody do a pic of a guy with a flame thrower in Congress?
Who Mueller thinks he is working for may not be congruent with who he is accomplishing work for.
If Paul Ryan had the guts to say the same thing, Trump could fire Mueller and it would be the end of this attempted coup. Instead, Ryan supports the coup.
I second that emotion.

Good for him
Gaetz for Speaker! He knocks it out of the park in this interview on OAN also from today.

I think right now you should call for Special Counsel to investigate Uranium One.
That way you can call Mueller to testify on his involvement, if any, beyond personally delivering an enriched uranium sample to Russia? Was the previous administration informed of the Russian bribing scandal before the deal was ultimately approved? Why were lesser charges eventually the charge leveled against this Russian who was involved in the bribery scheme?
It would also enable you to depose Hillary and her involvement in the deal, and the exact amount that was donated to her foundation, on or around that period of time, and who made those donations? Can it be determined if those donations were quid pro quo as a result of her agreeing to the deal?
I think in the long run this may prove to be more beneficial then removing Mueller at this point, so as to prove beyond the shadow of a doubt that there was no collusion between candidate Trump & Russia during the campaign.
I’m curious as to why you say that. Do you mind elaborating?
Check out the youtube link in my previous post. Per his interview today on OAN, Gaetz has actually filed a resolution to create a special counsel to investigate Uranium One. My understanding is Congress has this ability, in the form of law, if the DoJ refuses to on their own.
I'm picturing the opening scene of an old western tv show called Branded.
Either the attorney general or Congress could appoint a special counsel, said William Banks, a professor and the founding director of the Institute for National Security and Counterterrorism at Syracuse University.
Not really, because the Democrats would holler obstruction.
I used to love that show. Vigilante justice at its finest.
If the legislation for a new special counsel comes up for a vote, it could certainly bring this whole thing to a head. And, force people to choose sides. Unfortunately many would probably want to just hand it all over to Mueller, despite his obvious conflicts of interest, and questionable integrity on this very subject.
But I personally think that appointing a special counsel to look into Uranium One is the smart approach to take at this point in time. Supposedly a link has been provided, within this thread, where he does state he will call for this as well in an interview he had with OAN. I haven't looked at it yet, but I will be after this post.
BTW, here he is on the floor of the House Gaetz Discusses Mueller's Conflict of Interests
I’m not sure they could, at least not legally. But then we all know that legality is only for the citizens, and not the elite of the legislature, judicial or executive branches (unless of course they are Republicans) and Democrats are in the majority.
