A fishing town in Ísafjörður, Iceland is experimenting with a way to get drivers to pay attention to the road. What theyve come up with is this optical illusion:

Artist Jenny McCracken did something similar in New Zealand:

Sure, startle drivers and causing them to either slam on the breaks or jerk the wheel plowing into the sidewalk pedestrians.
With all those kids around they need to pay attention.
Be kind of fun to replace one of them paintings with the real thing...
Always against them the folks!
Never a thought as to THEY the thieves and liars!
I don’t get the point.
I bet his Mom smells of elderberry.
The floating cross walk didn’t seem to slow down the one driver shown by even a teensy bit.
What did I ever say about your Mom?
I couldn't see a driver in that vehicle.
Must been one of those eeeeevil SUVs...
LOL, I’m sorry, Elderberry.
1) It’s a Monty Python joke.
2) The humor is in the obtuseness: There’s nothing wrong with smelling like elderberry.
3) Presumably she’s related to you.
Of course, I botched the quote. The line is that your FATHER smelled of elderberries.
(In-story, the insult probably meant to assert that the father was a drunk, but being said by a Frenchman, the point was that the reference was so obscure as to not really be insulting at all. Indeed, the silly person was the Frenchman who said it, not the Englishman who was being insulted; I was being silly, not insulting.)
The way that SUV speed through the cross walk Id say its nit working
Mind you, Moose bites can be pretty nasty.
Lemon curry?
1) It doesn’t axtually “force” a driver to do anything.
2) After the first time a driver sees it, he/she will always ignore it in the future.
3) It distracts a driver’s attention away from pedestrians on the side of the road or cross-traffic, which is the exact opposite of what you want at an intersection or crosswalk.
But even worse, the mother was a hamster.
