I’m sorry, but to me this is backwards. You are saying that Western Science relies on authority and convention, rather than observation and reason. I hope that’s not the case, but maybe it is.

I meant to imply that using the scientific method within a laboratory environment seems superior to burying underpants in a field.

But perhaps both methods rely on observation and reason. Still, most good science does not involve underpants.
