Neither the vest from the accredited training program nor the certificate are required under the ADA. The ADA says anyone can train their dog, or miniature horse, to perform a task that mitigates or helps them with their disability. Professional training is not required. ADA also specifically prohibits cities, merchants and others from requiring proof that a dog is a service dog. It allows, in fact, only two questions. Is the dog a service animal required because of a disability? What work or task has the dog been trained to perform? Service dog owners may not be asked about the nature of their disability. They may not be required to provide documentation of the dogs training. Nor may they be asked to demonstrate the work the dog is trained to do.

You don’t agree that all dogs should be free to go where they please if they are controlled by their humans? Why do service dogs get special treatment, service dog privilege, or cause they are certified to be in human areas? The regulations are a joke, you can buy a cert online for your dog and bingo (pun intended) it’s a service dog and go anywhere you please with your mutt for what ever reason.
Some people honestly need them to walk and help see and for PSTD, the reason are endless. If the dog isn’t doing any harm and the human has control. I don’t see a reason why they shouldn’t be allowed anywhere.
I worked in a hotel. People use fake service dog vests to avoid paying pet fees.

So are the states going to challenge the ADA?
Another example of how the ADA has gotten so utterly out-of-control. Where does one draw the line at accessibility and accommodations to abuse and excess?
For years, there have been folks making a pretty good living by trolling businesses and filing ADA lawsuits against them for what are often relatively minor ADA “violations” - abusing the system.
There was a day when “service dogs” had to be certified... why has this changed?
You have tremendous contract stipulations and fees and such in the rental agreement. Make it clear only service animals are allowed and insurance requires seeing proper registration papers. The rent will be higher for said animals because of property wear and destruction and deposit will be held so that carpeting will be replaced after tenants leave due to animal accidents and dander. Health risks for future occupants. Damage to subfloors, etc. Renters will be billed for any and all repairs once notice is given they will be moving.
Nothing personal, its done for every tenant with a “service” animal. THe ones that truly have a service animal would still decide to pay if they really want to live there.
It is ridiculous you cannot ask for proof.
I don’t want to go to a fancy restaurant with a bunch of animals. I don’t think I’d want them at church either.
It’s kind of like kuds. I live kids, but there are places I don’t want them.
Plus, I’m allergic to many dogs. We have a poodle mix that I seem to be able to handle.
The service dog issue is exploited no question about that
It’s the age we live in
Dogs I’ve had....whew....I’d be cleaning up a lot of dog parts in their wake
And dealing with lawyers and lawsuits
No thanks
My dogs don’t need to be on an airplane
320 pounds of snarling male uncut Rotts
Or big Johnson bulldogs
Man....sounds like a movie
A bloody catastrophe at 35,000 feet with dogs flying the plane
The bar for popery appears to have been set pretty low of late, so you never know.
I’m very confused about this topic. As I have some disability I’ve ordered service dog registration for my Ruger on the https://myserviceanimal.org/.
And this ID works for me many times.
So it’s all is fake or not?
