Mother Ties Son To Roof Of Car In Attempt To Secure Plastic Pool

A 28-year-old mother from Wisconsin is facing felony charges after she decided to strap her nine-year-old son to the roof of her minivan. According to Fox 6, Amber Schmunk had just bought a plastic pool and did not think it would fit inside her vehicle. Instead of getting rope and tying it down, she thought it would be a good idea to strap her son to the roof to hold the pool down.

Concerned motorists called police, who tracked the woman down at her sister's house. She told police that "she believed it was OK as her father let her do things like that when she was that age." Police didn't buy that excuse and arrested her, charging her with second degree recklessly endangering safety, which is a felony that carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.

What the heck was she thinking? She should have stapled the kid to the roof!

The kid was strapped on.

What’s the fuss? Romney strapped his dog on top of the car, and conservatives voted for him, reluctantly.

“she thought it would be a good idea to strap her son to the roof to hold the pool down.”

“Seemed like a good idea at the time!!”

Our dad used to haul all manner of things on the car roof, but never thought to put one of us kids on top of whatever.

28 year-old with a 9 year-old son. Gotcha.

My mother got married at 18 and three months, and had my big brother at 19 and two months. A young mother isn't a problem, if she is married and mature.

“He must be VERY OLD!.”

Not really - his family is from a long forgotten Georgia sea island where they stopped hearing from the mainland in 1862. Something along the lines of the Japanese soldiers that would wander out of somewhere, not know WW2 was over.

That seem too young to you to have a kid?

I have to admit using the kid as a living bungee cord was an innovation, but you never heard of a carpool before?

Of course there are 19 year-old mothers who are fantastic. But today’s millenials are more likely to be single and less educated and less stable than previous generations. All I’m saying is that age could be a contributing factor. Plus, she obviously had bad parenting growing up.
