Contemporary "humans" in Europe and America, perhaps. It's a recent aberration.

They must have surveyed Mrs. POF. I’m way down on the list, I think.

[a Northeastern University study showed that only a baby human could compete with mans best friend]
Tell that to the 5 million babies who have been aborted in America.

People give me plenty of reasons for me to like dogs better. However, I noticed that I love MY dog; not necessarily crazy about every dog.

People have more control of their own situation. They get their own asses in trouble. A baby has adults to take care of them-not always.

I’ve gotten to the point where I would just assume hang with any dog, cat,or horse than the typical person.

I don’t find that surprising at all. Down-and-out humans have the capability of helping themselves and are (usually) somewhat responsible for getting themselves in whatever situation they’re in. Dogs aren’t.

We get along with cats and dogs so well because they don't talk back.

Aside from my family and those I consider close friends, this pretty much applies to me. I love my dog more than most people.

It’s been said, “If you lock your dog and your wife in the trunk of your car and come back three hours later, one of them will be happy to see you.”
A friend spent $1200 on cataract surgery for her 12 year old dog and I was thinking how many kids you could feed or clothe for that much money.

Dogs are property.
They are essentially loyal and willing slaves.
It does not surprise me that people would love loyal and willing slaves more than competent competitors.

I think this nay be because, even though we live in a post modern world where so many deny Judeo-Christian values and standards of right and wrong, most people still know deep down that there really is a standard of right and wrong. Dogs and cats, babies and small children are innocent. Thus more likable. The rest of us are not.

What about dogs that fail to yield the right of way (road kills), chase livestock or attack humans?
