Can anyone help me find the pictures of the National Guard "securing valuables" in Santa Rosa CA. I saw the pictures in the Press Democrat but was busy fighting fire and securing property.
The pictures will be of particular interest for Freepers. It is of the Guard prying open gun safes. I call foul on the caption. If you find it, you may want to start a new post.
There was a definite effort to reduce people's ability to secure their property. My road is still on lock down but the school is open. I may not go in but school is in session. The fire was nothing compared to the Gestapo tactics of law enforcement. They are over compensating for their failure to do a county wide alert for fear it wold cause a panic, a decision that likely resulted in over 20 deaths.
Might a comparison be law enforcement going door to door during Katrina and disarming everyone, of course “for the publication safety”.
Public. Not publication.

You can find the pic by scrolling through the photos at the top of the page.
In general, this would be unconstitutional. Once the gun safe is in the open in the burned-out remains of a destroyed neighborhood, it's an entirely different question. I still don't approve, but it's far less obviously nefarious. This is not the same as disarming people still in their own homes after Hurricane Katrina.
I agree.
I think this is not so much as to disarm the people (even though it is moonbeam’s Californistan) but people may put stuff like passports and other important documents in these safes. So it maybe a matter of matching up the documentation found (if any) at the remains and the missing persons roster.
From the looks of the completeness of the burn in most of those pictures I doubt that the contents of those gun safes survived.
If they can pry it open with crowbars it’s probably a gun cabinet, not a safe, and the guns are toast.
