Strangely enough I asked the clinic my husband & have been going to for like 12 years, what my blood type was & the nurse practitioner said I would need a blood test because they dont know that. I still find that very hard to believe. What if I had an emergency????!!! Something seems very off there.
Not to worry. In a true emergency you would get O Negative red cells and AB plasma. Its really not that common to be blood-typed as a matter of course unless you have some condition that may require transfusion.

The last couple of times I gave blood (July 4 and August 30 of this year), in different cities, they had revised the questionnaire so that now gay men only have to claim not to have had sex with another male for one year.
Somehow Europe is full of people who are allowed to donate blood even though they have spent more than 5 years since 01/01/1980 in Europe.
My type is A+ but I am still in what the Red Cross considers a Rare Blood Group.

Probably A, but actually, I don't know. I had to give myself a blood test for a college bio class, and didn't enjoy it that much, but if mine had turned out unusual, I think I'd remember that. BTW, the wikipage on blood types is definitely worth a long read, it's magisterial.
