I have read (maybe from Dale Carnegie’s “How to Win Friends and Influence People”) that you cannot persuade people to change their minds unless they find you likeable.
Pascal’s trick won’t work with Liberals/Progressives. They are unreasonable.
And if you really want to short circuit a liberal’s thinking and point of view, just ask continuing questions about ridiculous, illogical circular reasoning that they are using to convince you that you are wrong. Tucker Carlson uses that technique quite effectively.
So are most teenagers...
The way to do it for egotistical morons and idiots is to make him or her think it is their idea.

Would if you intercept the liberal talking points and replace it with the voice of reason? If they think it is liberal talking points, they’ll run with it. No convincing necessary.
It’s been noted that logic won’t get a person out of a position that logic didn’t get them into.

Since the article assumes among other things that the person who wants to change another’s mind will not be open to changing his own because he is superior / right / smarter and will not negotiate a nanometer of his presumed superiority. This is how some on the left operate. Closed mind, always move the goal posts incrementally leftward while lying about one is really doing, wear the opposition down, never give an inch, try to crush the opposition - even if one has to disobey laws, precedent, subvert the Constitution, etc.
The article did not address what happens if two people from opposite sides of an issue / political spectrum use the same technique on each other. My theory is that this technique fails, with at least one side (guess which one) launching ad hominem attacks and worse on the other.
It only works with those that possess a mind. Liberals are devoid of one.
“...just ask continuing questions about ridiculous, illogical circular reasoning...”
Been there, done that many times.
When the few leftists who actually listen what is being said and finally arrives at the point to understand that his argument is illogical, nonsensical, built on fallacy, maybe even contradict the laws of nature, ...he will double down and insist he is still right / superior.
......just ask continuing questions about ridiculous, illogical circular reasoning...

It’s actually very entertaining.
I know exactly how you feel.
I felt the same way myself; believe me.
Then I learned about.........and saw it all a whole new way.
Know what I mean?
Bkmrk.
Reminds me of the Monty Python bit, “How To Do It”, how to rid the world of all known diseases. Ultimately, some people only respond to a pipe across the skull.
This is why Trump validates his opposition all the time.... and then comes down hard on them. He is no dummy.
I’ve studied this topic for 30+ years and presented at conferences on the subject of: “Recognizing and Resisting Mind Control and Manipulation.”
My presentation includes Cult and Religious Manipulation Techniques....
Stage Hypnosis and Trance Induction Techniques with Resistant Subjects....
Recognizing Common Fallacies of Logical Thinking.....
Emotional Manipulation and Circular Appeals....
I present the knowledge for people to protect themselves and also give a warning that if anyone improperly utilizes the knowledge to manipulate others they are severely accountable for their actions.
If someone is attacking you in a straight line, move in circles. If someone is attacking you in circles, move in a straight line. The same techniques used as a defense can be used to identify and attack your opposition.
This is why it is so difficult to catch a butterfly or insect in your bare hand.
