I have never heard anything she sang after 1979.

She was one hell of a Mariachi singer for many years — arguably one of the best ever.
Really good Mariachi is a lot of fun to listen to — a buffet for the ears.
Crappy mariachi (like what you get in restaurants and strolling bands in Mexico) is an affront on the ears.

Been backstage at one of her concerts (with Emmylou). She had an INCREDIBLE voice, but not a whole lot of self confidence. Politics aside, I am very impressed by her talent. Honestly, amazing. Warming up, unamplified, she and Emmylou sounded like angels. What many don't realize is that when she and others of her generation were cutting albums there weren't the options of ‘autotune’ etc. that are used today. Today, if desired, you could probably make almost anyone sound operatic. She was the real deal as a musician.

She did an album with Emmylou Harris back in the 90s that I thought was real good. Prior to that, I hadn’t paid much attention to her.

Lush Life and For Sentimental Reasons are magnificent records.
The Nelson Riddle Orchestra played perfectly and Linda sang beautifully.
They’re not Rock-n-Roll records but covers of classics from the 1930’s and 40’s
