Go Dodgers!!!
Yep, we got our final four.
The Astros vs. Yankees for the American League, and the Cubs vs. Dodgers for the National League.
Play ball.
Off topic a bit, but I hope they have good baseball weather throughout the playoffs. Game 7 of the World Series will be on November 1st, if it goes the full 7 games. The way baseball has pushed the playoffs later and later into the autumn, you roll the dice on whether you will have good baseball weather in most cities.
Astros up 2 - 0 in the bottom of the eighth. After being wrong on Cleveland - N I am reluctant to pick the ‘Stros, whom I think are the better team. But perhaps the Yankees Cinderella ride is going to end with Houston.
As for the NL.... who knows? Cubs showed they can find a way to win. And it’s hard to pick a team that had a huge in-season losing streak to win the championship.... that would be the Dodgers. Love Kershaw but his postseason record is .... abysmal.
On to the top of the ninth still 2 - 0 ‘Stros.
In New York and Chicago could definitely be an issue.
Altuve is a master of the game. Absolutely amazing talent. Definitely MVP material.
Astros in 4. Tomorrow’s game. Severino vs. Verlander, should be fun. Go Astros.
I’d rather see the Dodgers win the NL championship. I’m content to wait another 100 years before the Cubs go to the World Series again, just because Chicago SUCKS!!!
New York v. Houston
Los Angeles v. Chicago
what are the four largest cities in the USA (by population)?
New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston
Has this ever happened before in pro sports??? (the final four being exactly the 4 largest cities)..... I seriously doubt it!! (especially considering how little Chicago and Houston have been in final four in most pro sports. Until a couple of decades ago Philly was larger than Houston, but I doubt it happened then, either, as Philly wasn’t in final four often, either.
Looks like Astros have the momentum.
Keen observation. Things that make you go hmmmm...
Two-to-one now with two down in the ninth..... Home run Bird. Bye Bye Birdie as they say.
Have not seen the Astros all season. This guy Giles throws some major major heat.
It’s final. Astros win first game.
Ball game. Astros win. One down, three to go. A minor inconsequential hiccup there in the ninth....
I know it’s a cliche, that anything can happen in a short series.
See what happens. Yanks were down 2-0 in a best of five series against Cleveland and came back. Now they are in a position where they would have to win 4 out of the remaining 6 games against the Astros. Stay tuned.
Oh, indeed. Last Friday night I thought the Yankees were finished after blowing a five-run lead in Game 2. That was a back-breaking loss. But one at-bat can change an entire series around and the Yankees are still playing and the mighty Indians team that won 22 in a row is done for the year. As Yogi said, it ain't over till it's over.
OTOH, I like the Astros tomorrow with Verlander on the mound.
Wouldn’t call it a “minor inconsequential hiccup”. Underscores the fact that Houston used up the best of its not so great bullpen. They will not be in good shape tomorrow if Verlander is shaky or cannot go more than six innings. The Yankees are very familiar with Verlander and will come out swinging. Also it should be noted the Yankees terrify opponents in the late innings. They came up one hit short in the eigth and Houston was palpably uneasy in the ninth. If the Yankees win tomorrow, Houston will crumble when they come to New York. Yankees will win this series in six games at the most.
Gooooooo Astros!
when did the Astros switch to the American league?
Haven’t watched or tracked baseball since ‘98
The switch came in 2013. Still seems unnatural to me!!
The Astros belong in the National League!!
(not that I really care)
