Former child star Frankie Muniz said he doesnt remember acting in the hit sitcom Malcolm in the Middle because of damage to his brain caused by a series of strokes and concussions. Ive gotten to really do anything I wanted to do, but the truth is I dont really remember much of that, Muniz said in an interview that aired on Dancing with the Stars Monday night. I think it almost feels like it wasnt me. Theres no negative feelings, I just dont remember. Muniz, 31, told viewers hes suffered nine concussions and several mini-strokes that have made him forget much of his formative years. It makes me a little sad, he said. Things pop back into my mind I should have remembered. After starring in the sitcom, Muniz went on to pursue a career as a musician and race car driver. The brain damage happened before he took up racing, he said.

The underlying cause of a TIA often is a buildup of cholesterol-containing fatty deposits called plaques (atherosclerosis) in an artery or one of its branches that supplies oxygen and nutrients to your brain.

At least he can forget all those scenes of Bryan Cranston dancing around the house in his tightie whities.
Yes, no, maybe...I don’t know, could you repeat the question?
Spending a few minutes each day documenting what you actually did would be incredibly helpful for many of us. Unfortunately, I suffered many concussions when I was younger also, first from growing up riding and being thrown from horses and being kicked in the head... later from crashes during training rides totaling approximately 10,000 miles a year during my youth when I was a nationally ranked bicycle racer. I too have difficulty remembering some periods during my youth. Fortunately, I have friends and family who do remember... I hope accurately.
Well played.
Truly A blessing in disguise................
The only reason I watched the show.
/Walter White did it too
;D
Thanks. I wish Frankie all the best, but I couldn’t resist.
On the bright side, maybe it erased his memories of the pedophile casting couch he probably had to endure, given the recent and likely future news.
Wonder what all the concussions were from. Article says they happened before he started racing cars.
Severe brain swelling from concussions can cut off blood supply (ischemia)
I know this first hand. Lost my central vision for about 10 minutes after a major head thumping during gymnastics in High School.....And the school nurse just sent me home.
That was my third concussion. (My brothers caused the other 2! LOL!)
Nine concussions? I wonder if there was something related to his many strokes that had his brain in a condition where a conk on the head was more likely than the average person to obtain a concussion? His history of concussions is said to have begun when he was a child, and other than a few adult incidents most articles do not detail how he actually got nine concussions.
Really? I love watching the TDF. So what age group and what division? What were your best road races and when?
Yikes. Poor Frankie. :-(
I was very active in the mid to late 1970s from my mid to late teens then circumstances forced me to get a real job. The races were mostly regional, along with district and national championship races. I can't remember the names of many of the races I won and I doubt whether you would be familiar with them. We traveled to Canada frequently because at that time bicycle racing was more popular in British Columbia than in the Northwest.
I still have a giant pottery cup that I won from a criterium and road race that was held on our side of the border which was being used by the Canadians to pick out their Worlds Team. I was the District Road Champion here in Washington and went to Colorado Springs to the Olympic Training Center to try out for our Worlds Team.
The week before the Nationals I took 3rd in a Road Race on the same course only in the opposite direction. Greg LeMonde was the only nationally ranked competitor who did not participate. Greg was one of the most amazing persons I ever met. I was ranked 9th in National Prestige Race points that year despite having a very limited ability to participate in distant races.
I met a lot of super great and talented guys traveling and racing back then. I have always enjoyed watching the TDF but it feels like something is missing these days. And all this scandal from Lance and doping has been very disturbing to me. To me it felt like there was a lot more honor and camaraderie back then. There were those who got a lot more support and opportunities because of their families or circumstances.
When I was in Colorado especially I saw the seeds of doping and its acceptance by coaching staff even though it was before effective techniques. The USCF hired Edward ‘Eddie B’ Borysewicz who escaped from Poland as their head coach. The Poles at that time were “pioneers” in “performance enhancement techniques”. I could go into much further detail, but I have already gone on too long.
I firmly believe that the seeds of the problems with Lance and doping and the attitudes that contributed were planted during the time that I was racing. It was one of the reasons that I became somewhat disillusioned with the sport even before circumstances forced me to give up my rigorous training schedule.
Frankie grew up to be 5ft 5 inches. the health problems may have caused the lack of height and eventually the symptoms of concussion type disorders. It may have been a genetic problem. He is lucky to be alive and have a girl friend. I fear for his future. If it is genetic, he may have a short life expectancy.
#4 Remember that time you were lost overboard and washed up on a tropical island?
Remember the beautiful native women who found you?
Remember when she warmed your breath with hers and....
Well if you can’t remember you can’t remember!
Well he might not be the tallest person in the world, but there are plenty of men his height and shorter with no stature related problems out there.
Woah, what? How does someone get 9 concussions? It sounds like he’s lucky to be alive.
I had 1 when I was a kid, a makeshift monkey bar (it was indented to hang towels on or something) we had in a door way came off while I was swinging on it. I woke up in my bed with 1 shoe on and could barely remember the previous couple days.
I wonder what else happened to him while he was a child actor! I wouldn’t send my worst enemy to Hollywood...
