The sound in Havana: What Americans heard in Cuba attacks

It sounds sort of like a mass of crickets. But not quite. A high-pitched whine, but from what? It seems to undulate, even writhe. Listen closely: Some hear multiple, distinct tones colliding in a nails-on-the-chalkboard effect.

The Associated Press has obtained a recording of what some U.S. Embassy workers heard in Havana, part of the series of unnerving incidents later deemed to be deliberate attacks. The recording, released Thursday by the AP, is the first disseminated publicly of the many taken in Cuba of sounds that led investigators initially to suspect a sonic weapon.

The recordings from Havana have been sent for analysis to the U.S. Navy, which has advanced capabilities for analyzing acoustic signals, and to the intelligence services, the AP has learned. But the recordings have not significantly advanced U.S. knowledge about what is harming diplomats. Officials say the government still doesn’t know what is responsible for injuries to its personnel, but the U.S. has faulted Cuba for failing to protect American diplomats on its soil.

The Navy and the State Department did not respond to requests for comment on the recording. Cuba has denied involvement or knowledge of the attacks.

If it was doing damage should we really be listening to an online recording of it?

So strange. My brother has trigeminal neuralgia. It’s so rare it took the doctors forever to diagnose. He finally wound up in an er and one of the doctors there knew about it because his dad had it. The drugs finally quit working on my brother and he had brain surgery 2 months ago. The kind where they drill a hole, go in, and put little silicone pillows around the nerves in that area. He says so far it’s working. No more pain.

That’s great. If you’ve ever experienced that pain, you know why people have killed themselves over it. It’s one of the areas Ben Carson specialized in.

If a “source” is “unnamed”, “on background”, “on condition of anonymity” or other wised unnamed, I regard them as fiction. Period.

I see! I think I’ve heard of it before, and wondered if it’s just suggestion.

I guess you’ve tried Ginko Biloba?

This would be less of a problem if we didn't have any relations with the criminal Castro regime. Or, if we capped the Castro brothers and follow that with the annihilation of their bloodlines. Thanks BenLurkin.
