...and the NYT isn’t... LMAO
My attitude hasn’t changed. I was for the most part a very very casual fan that all I watched last season was the last bit of the superbowl. I may still do the same this season if the game looks interesting to me come the final quarter of this years sb. I occasionally check the scores and standings and peruse the NFL threads here to read what is going on with their latest shenanigans. Spectator sports can be fun and amusing but I no longer take them as seriously as I did in younger years and I very seldom sit in front of the tube and watch anymore. I have been to enough live events to fill me up for a lifetime and if I ever go again it will be because of some unique circumstance.
The NFL, from the lowliest player up to the Commissioner, has no one to blame but itself.
Trump simply gave voice to what many people were thinking.
This outdistances even the New Coke debacle as an example of brand suicide.
>>” And while N.F.L. ratings are down compared with previous years, protests are probably not the main reason.”<<
And the narrative continues unabated in an article about that very thing.
If the team owners want to preserve their money ... and their ego trips that are their teams... they need to replace the commissioner yesterday.
Replace with
#1 Tony Dungy. More than anyone else, Tony Dungy can gain the respect and support of everyone. The former player, coach and now commentator knows the game, knows the owners, the coaches, the players, and most importantly, respects the fans in a way few others do.
#2 Some former Brett Favre type player who was a hero in the past and has kept a low profile since. This is for the owners with no cajones.
#3 Condoleeza Rice. She won’t bring back as many fans as Tony Dungy. But she will run a good league.
Police who make arrests could now end up having short careers.
No doubt the National Felons League is keeping its fingers crossed.
And it really yanks their chain that President Trump opened hi mouth - funny how they don’t realize that when a leader believes in himself and his belief/philosophic systems, he speaks openly about them - didn’t bother them when Nobama made a lot of false statements to get folks violently active but Trump is more dangerous because moral truth is anathema to them.
There is still the problem with those who feel oppressed and are now being “forced” to take their protest off of the sidelines... Will they take it out of the stadium or into the game? How many felons are now in the NFL? How many of those felons feel that certain players shouldn’t be on the field with them? For those fans who only watch football to see players get carried off the field, you’re in for a fulfilling rest of the season... Way to go, Roger!
Bunch of padded up freaks who run for 14 seconds every 15 minutes.
Boring.
Even NFL fans have to bet money to make it mildly interesting.
Steph Curry and LeBron James have been working overtime to trash the president and their fan base. LeBron's tweets are the work of an emotional 12 year old racist with a sub 80 IQ. The players in the NFL and NBA are now running the show.
Rhodesia, South Africa and Somalia are examples of where this militancy is headed.
For the past couple of years we New England fans have been telling the world that Goodell is a Dbag. But no one wanted to hear us.
The NFL is getting what they deserve.
The level the players go to should never be supported. They showed their true nature with this and standing now is pointless. Disrespect for this country and their manufactured crisis that doesn’t exist nowadays with the black community.
#BullyPulpitMatters
All Godell has to do is declare a month of SJ awareness similar to the breast cancer month
Players can wear black Pokka Dots
Despite the media’s best efforts, the biggest and greatest bully-pulpit in the world is the office of the Presidency. The Donald can draw the attention of the world in any direction he chooses to... And if he directs his anger toward something people will notice and they will respond.
When Goodell came out swinging after President Trump criticized players who disrespected the anthem and the flag it was a mistake. That mistake was then compounded by the owners locking arms in unison with those same players who disrespect the country that allows them to be among the richest people in the world because they play a sport for entertainment.
Their bottom line is now taking a beating and that will not do. The owners are now in full agreement with the President and this business of taking a knee during the anthem is going to become old hat in a rather rapid manner. The lesson that should have been delivered by Goodell to Kaperdink the very first time he performed this stunt, will now be delivered to those who should know better... And if they fail to adhere they will be suspended and fined.
Sadly, this could have all been nipped in the bud if that had been done to Kaperdink in the first place... Who knows, he may have even still had a job if he had been suspended or fined for being a moron instead of being allowed to embarrass the NFL on a weekly basis. Now he will never work in the NFL again.
I had fragments of information about the NFL and only a vague sense of what they were about - their crony-capitalism, their insider/leftist/controlled media outlook, and their leftist players. I had no idea how deep their problems were.
Trump ripped the lid off that. As leftists like to say "he simply started a conversation."
Let’s hope the BLM/NFL Slum Dog Millionaires keep kaeperniking until there is no NFL. Maybe that will save the NBA and MLB. Yes the NBA is cut from the same pile of shiite but I hate to see two major businesses go down and the NFL has already volunteered to commit suicide to prove how much they hate White America.
Hear that, Target? You’ve slipped to #2.
