I cut the cable when my kids were young.

After work I homeschooled my kids first in Math then later U.S. History. Library every Saturday. High school, the Constitution and even through in some Ayn Rand. I went to tons of school board meeting and was VP of the PTA.

I think it’s still the parent’s responsibility. It was evident 20 years ago American education was sliding downhill. That made it our responsibility.

“I actually became more conservative in college.”

I was flipping channels one night on our ancient TV in the basement when I was in middle school and came across this guy with a weird accent. It was Buckley on “Firing Line”. I was addicted!!!! Learned a lot.

Between Buckley and my Grandfathers stories of being a teenager and a peasant farmer in Russia going through the Bolshevik revolution, the horrors of communism, and how corrupt unions had become in he U.S. (This was in the 60’s) I don’t think I was never not a conservative.

Churchill would say I had no heart. Maybe I just lucked out got my brain early!

Interesting. My husband became a conservative in college. In the ‘70s. At BERKELEY.

"Millennials: The Dumbest Generation in History?"

That is a tremendous advantage to the smarter ones among them, if they become self aware.

As a baby class of 1940 I watched it happen in slow motion. My view at the time (while I was in the military) was and wll always be that the 60’s were the turning point. The massive civil disobedience, anti war demonstrations, riots. racial disturbances, hippie movement etc largely went unchallenged. Too many got away with too much and went unpunished. Greatest generation let them get away with it.Goldwater’s loss a national tragedy on the order of Obama’s election.
