The girlfriend of Vegas madman Stephen Paddock said Wednesday she had no idea of the massacre he was planning — and only thought he was breaking up with her when he shipped her off to the Philippines and then wired her $100,000.
Marilou Danley said through her attorney that Paddock sent her on a weeks-long trip to visit family in the Philippines before he carried out the worst mass killing in US history and wired her the large sum of cash while she was there — but she saw that as a sign he was going to end their relationship, not end 59 lives in a hail of gunfire.
“At first [I thought] the unexpected trip home and the money was a way of breaking up with me,” she said in a statement read by attorney Matthew Lombard while she was still being questioned by the FBI.
“He never said anything to me or took any action that I was aware of that I understood in any way to be a warning that something horrible like this was going to happen.”
Danley was traveling in southeast Asia when Paddock went on the deadly spree that killed 59 people and injuring more than 500, but returned to the US to aid investigators, according to the statement.
“I voluntarily flew back to America because I knew the FBI and Las Vegas Police Department wanted to talk to me, and I wanted to talk to them,” she said in the statement. It was revealed earlier in the day that she told her brother she has a “clean conscience” about the tragedy.
The self-described “proud mom and grandma who lives life to the fullest” assured brother Reynaldo Bustos she had nothing to do with the largest mass-shooting in recent US history.

Something happened between ‘14 and Dec of ‘16. In June-ish of last year, Paddock starting buying guns.

Paddock owned a condo at the Montage on Sierra Street. Danley moved into the Montage unit in Aug 2013.
Paddock bought a house in the Summerset Community of Reno in 2014. When the Sommerset home was raided, police found a ‘plethoria’ of munitions. Danley was with Paddock when he initially viewed the property and was aware he paid cash for the home. The house was on a hill with no neighbors. He erected a privacy fence that neighbors complained about. Danley was witnessed living at the Summerset home, and was seen ‘packing her car’ in July ‘17 and leaving.
Paddock was prescribed valium in June ‘17 [toxicology?].
Paddock owned another home in Mesquite and Danley had that as her home of record. There was an early report by a newspaper that neighbors have said ‘two Hispanic men’ lived at that home. Another neighbor commented it was hard to see inside the house because of blackout-type treatments.
Danley didn’t pack her car to leave the Sommerset home in July, because she was ‘afraid’ that Paddock was ‘breaking up with her’ in September by sending her to the PI. Which means she didn’t want to break up with him. So, where did she go in July? To the Mesquite home? When the Mesquite home was raided, ammonium nitrate and numerous (19) guns were also found there. Did she not dust?
And. Lastly, I don’t believe the ‘cheap ticket’ stuff. I’m betting that trip was as simple as complying with visa requirements - go home, come back, with a trip to HongKong for fun. Convenient he would buy a cheap ticket but send tens of thousands, followed by $100K, ‘to buy a house for momma’. Bull. Did she have a green card to work since she’s an Aussie citizen and all?
