Very simple: How did this shooter get to spend over 1 hour shooting at ducks in a pond while nobody was prepared to take him down!
That is the real question! The Hotels were more scared of lawsuits than having their top paying rollers he hustled out of their cocaine beds while people died.
So much very wrong here. So disgraced to see the police patting their backs, along with politicians and firemen letting their guard down on a Sunday night!
79 minutes of terror and the only reason Im writing here is because I thought the SWAT Team made it in less tha 20 minutes.
Horrible. The poor people there were living Dien Bien Phu!
“When seconds count, help is only minutes away....”
While this is meant to deride police response, it is also true.
Police forces need to admit it openly. I stead they pretend that they need more funding, more training, etc. They use every excuse that any good bureaucracy uses.
I do not expect the police to sacrifice their lives. But I do expect them to be honest about it.
So a well-equipped gunman in a building overlooking a large crowd cannot be stopped in less than one hour in any major city.
That’s the reality and a limitation of law enforcement. People simply need to understand and our laws that tolerate the groups that might advocate this sort of thing need to be enforced on this basis.
If antifa, for instance was immediately taken down as the terrorist group it clearly is, I believe that this gunman, regardless of his direct or indirect involvement with this or any other terroristic group may have been dissuaded.
One guy. I am sure there were others involved in some very extensive planning and preparing but it is highly unlikely there was more than one man pulling triggers. I listened to the gunfire on the videos and the claim that there was one fully automatic (as manufactured) used besides the obviously modified semiauto is not discernible from the sound of the shooting. It sounded all like the same weapon firing in uninterrupted thirty round bursts such as one gets with certain trimming mods. The gaps in firing were sufficient for a not-professional change of magazines. It was one guy with a bunch of loaded magazines. He was located on the building long before the police got up to the room and ended the action. Too bad there was not a qualified sniper with a proper weapon on the ground.
Are you really going to return fire into a glass hotel full of people when you are not exactly sure which window to shoot at?
This could have been a friendly fire disaster also. Fortunately it wasn’t.
I agree.
The response time wasn’t ideal (ten minutes before the shooting started is ideal), but it was better than many.
There aren’t rooms filled with SWAT guys ready to go at a moments notice. It takes a bit to spool up and deploy.
Dan Bilzerian , the king of Instagram?
He is an enormous doosh.
Why is this showing up in the Religion Forum?
So this 64 year old was not only shooting up the concert, but was monitoring hallways and picking off security guards?
There might be a partial high tech (ok, medium high tech) answer.
What have I seen very often at events (festivals fairs, etc.) in the town nearest us?
Drones.
Ok, we're not talking about something you buy for $79.99 on Amazon, but I am also not talking about a Predator. Lot's of capability is out there & there are a lot of possibilities and angles that might be interesting topics for a thread of their own. Unfortunately, I'm not going to be on FR much the rest of today, beyond a couple quick checks for news... Will try to stop back by this thread this evening -- might be very late.
Police had to gear up and transport swat teams through crowded downtown. Then they had to climb 32 floors of stairs. Then they had to assemble and make entry. That would take an hour.
Listen to the LVPD dispatch audio on LiveLeak or Youtube. It took 17 minutes from when the first call came into 911, until the police were at his room. In the audio, you can hear an officer say, I am on floor 32, near room 135. A security officer has been shot in the leg and is by the elevator.
The question is why did it take swat another hour to enter the room? Probably concern about a bomb or something in the room. The police officer notes there have been no shots fired for a few minutes. So maybe they thought the risk has subsided. I suspect the shooter killed himself after the shootout with the security guard.
But definitely it only took 17 minutes for the police to find the exact room. Pretty good, actually.
Yea, sure, all at the same time over the 45 minute period when the shooting at the concert only lasted for 10-15 minutes recorded on all of the cell phone videos. I counted three periods of automatic fire. Some say there was a fourth but I have yet to correlate that to be a fact.
I suppose you are not aware enough of the relatively new cameras that connect directly to a cell phone app. We do know the cameras were placed, what we don’t know is what he used to monitor them. BTW, the app also alerts the user when there is IR movement.
Pull your head out.
The Las Vegas Police Department did a good professional job here under awful circumstances, and deserve enormous approval.
“The question is why did it take swat another hour to enter the room? Probably concern about a bomb or something in the room.”
Several reasons:
1. How much time would it take to haul their gear up 32 floors? The elevators were shut down.
2. They really don’t know how many shooters they were dealing or if they occupied multiple rooms or floors.
3.. Bombs? Booby-trapped?
4. Hostages?
Isn’t that about as much time as the Pulse leftist shooter had in Orlando?
“He shot at SWAT and security guards for an unspecified amount of time before killing himself.”
Yes, he killed himself, because the important thing to remember is to trust what we hear from Big Media, especially because in this case, it’s not DIRECTLY related to politics.
Good call.
So tired of seeing posts here knee-jerk repeating Big Media narrative points as gospel truth.
I know. It doesn’t make any sense whatsoever.
A trained professional life long shooter would have a challenge pulling numbers like this guy supposedly did in 10 - 15 minutes.
I ran the numbers in another thread. Figure at the high end he fired 940 rounds. Low end 740. That’s at 60 rounds every 45 seconds for 10 minutes, and rounding up too.
There’s just no way this was a lone shooter or that we are told the truth.
He may have survived from 79 minutes. But he was only firing into the crowd for somewhere between 10 to 15 minutes.
