The best version of this carol I've heard. Annie Lennox's "Coventry Carol" for Vader in Star Wars.

Agreed. Only said it was the best Coventry Carol I found. When I search for versions for music videos, I'm looking for clear voice and understandable lyrics. Of my Annie Lennox videos, my favorites are:

Into the West for Lord of the Rings

Angels in the Snow for Dr Who

I love it musically, but I would never use it as a music video because her enunciation is unclear. I’m straining and I know the words, but I still can’t pull them out of the sound. That’s what kills so many versions for me. She’s good at getting the “ng” at the end of words, which is what is often lost, but I lose her at the beginning and middle of phrases. What I keep trying to find are pieces that I enjoy enough that I can gather them together in a playlist and just use them for background music but, if I’m paying attention, are decent music videos. This does one but not the other. But I REALLY enjoyed listening and seeing this album. Thank you.

I love the way you combine images with music that seem to be unrelated, but then come together quite nicely!

However, that part of the Star Wars legacy (Episode 1 The Phantom Menace) is my least favorite.

I LOVED the one that started it all (STAR WARS- A New Hope) and fondly remember standing outdoors in the rain for two hours to get into the Charles Cinema in Boston to see it. After a decade of anti-heroes and grim 60’s type movies, it was so REFRESHING to see the battle between good and evil played out on the screen with mostly shoe-string budget Special Effects, which required artistic skill and ingenuity.

CGI has ruined a lot of Sci-Fi Films for me.

(((SIGH)))

I guess I am an old fogey!

They should never have made any sequels or antecedents to Star Wars I (1977). This was a classic--at the time I saw it, I thought it was the best movie I had ever seen. None of the follow-ons that I have watched have even come close to its greatness.

I agree. I agree with you a lot, don’t I? I oftentimes make videos because I’m a completist, but I never watch anything but the original 3 Star Wars movies. They are classics and I feel good after seeing them. The others are complex, dark and depressing. I’d rather watch the original Indy Jones movie.

I agree.

The Empire Strikes Back
and
The Return of the Jedi

at least rounded out the story a bit, and we learned of Luke’s parentage, and that Leah was his twin sister (whom he KISSED in #1 Eyew), but other than providing those services, the additional movies could not hold a candle to the FIRST one, which broke the mold IN MY VERY HUMBLE OPINION.

You got me! If I’d heard this one, I might have used it over the Annie Lennox. Just ordered 3 of their winter albums. Many, many thanks for the recommendation.

II think it speaks to the sinister spirit of this song—

That spirit is why I put it up today. I’m horrified by the Las Vegas event, the same slaughter of innocents as the song. Music is how I express my feelings.

Oh, maggie, that was heartbreaking. Still hoping that the correction is true - that he’s holding on. What a handsome man. And what talent.

If he’s hanging on, sounds grim.

Tough, tough, emotional day.
