Las Vegas gunman Stephen Paddock had 19 weapons stashed in his hotel room to carry out his massacre including a collection of rifles and handguns, according to a report.
Experts said Paddocks weapon of choice was likely a fully automatic rifle, given witness accounts of the gunfire, according to New York Magazine.
The weapon is especially tough for a civilian to obtain, the mag said.
The experts pointed to the pattern of the bursts of gunfire in concluding that Paddock used at least one automatic weapon.
I hear ONE fully automatic rifle. Shoots 90 rounds x2 30 second reloads, tweeted US intelligence expert Malcolm Nance.
Paddock could have used a machine gun or military-style assault rifle, both of which would have the range to reach concertgoers from his high-rise hotel room and fire multiple bullets with a single squeeze of the trigger...

What if? It's not implausible, and there are others than ISIS types that might be culpable, but that's all I can say based on the available evidence.
He was a high stakes gambler, losing big could make him compromised and thus easily set up.
That thought occurred to me as well.
Bring it up in a golf bag.
My thought from the beginning. How could he get all those weapons into the room unnoticed in a town where cameras seem to catch everything? Somebody needs to review the hotel tapes.
That could be explained away as saying the guy was loaded
(high-stakes gambling).
Some of these were reported to be modified.
That's a more interesting possibility: it means either he had the knowledge to do it, had someone else do it, or otherwise obtained them with the modifications.
Given how every person I know with a federal firearm license strives to be impeccable because the government can yank that away so easily [essentially making it impossible to do business in some cases] the latter two are really pretty unlikely.
He set up two shooting platforms.
Another interesting note; given the location and range a second platform wouldn't be much use to a single shooter. (That is, the angular difference from point A and point B from some point C [in the concert] would be quite small.)
Yet, according to this guy’s brother, the shooter did not have knowledge of weapons.
I've heard some people saying that the brothers hadn't talked in a decade or so… so I'm not sure how much of a point that is.
This doesn’t add up very well.
I agree.
Though, on the other hand, these are initial reports. (But, on the third hand, sometimes the initial reports have interesting implications.)
I simply don't know on most of this, but it's kind of astounding how quickly this has filled the news-cycle. It makes me wonder if something else is going on, either that was about to hit the news or as a diversion from the then-current news cycle.
Okay how did he get that many heavy weapons into the hotel without anyone or camera noticing?
You must not go to Vegas much. Vegas is convention central. People who are displaying their wears at industry meetings often bring lots of large creates into their hotel rooms. I have seen creates for large panel TVs and satellite equipment.
I bet there is even a sportsman show where half the ballroom is filled with Hunting equipment including everything for guns.
The reality is that Vegas has a huge amount of security. But nobody thought about this. You would think that mass murder is unlikely when someone is up in their 32nd floor room. Who would think they would hit a concert a block away. And the reality is that the guy only needed one gun and several rounds of ammo.
While all the stupid security people on the news channels are proposing dumb things. The reality is that a guy could do this in New York City any day. Virtually anywhere there is a crowd and a hotel window looking down on it. Just think about Bourbon Street. There is no stopping this with security checks.
“Im sure he didnt tote them up there out in the open.”
I saw a movie and these guys had a tiger in their bathroom.
A TIGER!

It’s easy to bring lots of things into a hotel on a room ‘cart’ - jese, just last month we were at a conference at a hotel and I took three trips just unloading the SUV. Lots of equipment.
It would be easy to bring in...hiding it from housekeeping? Another issue.
“I imagine he had them either broken into upper and lower”
Yep. Probably in regular old luggage.
You may be underestimating that ole .22LR
Watch this at 300 yards.

Heavy Weapons are M2s and Mortars not small arms. And even those can be broken down and carried as luggage. Small arms are a cinch to break down and conceal.
It is a measured 400 yards from the base of the hotel to the concert area, according to various reports.
This
And he was suicidal ? By his own hand?
19 Weapons and 1 guy?.....
Why would he continue to sneak in guns which are much more difficult to hide from the Hotel staff, cameras, etc...
than rounds for 1 weapon?
See post 35
Im sure he didnt tote them up there out in the open.
= = =
Took them up disguised as a sex robot.
I heard on FOX that one type of the shells found were .223. Makes me think AR, illegally modified with an illegal drum. .223’s have a very flat trajectory, and from that hotel room he was just spraying lead in the general direction of the concert. Target rich environment indeed.
Who’s gonna check his luggage as he heads up there?
19 Weapons
= = =
Are they including knives, brass knuckles, ????
Will we see a list, and photos (how long will that take?), and will it be real or planted?
