(JTA) — Julia Louis-Dreyfus, an American television actress who gained fame on the hit series “Seinfeld,” was diagnosed as suffering from breast cancer.
Louis-Dreyfus, whose paternal grandfather was Jewish, broke the news Thursday on Twitter.
“1 in 8 women get breast cancer. Today, I’m the one,” wrote Louis-Dreyfus, who portrayed Elaine Benes on the hugely popular sitcom. She currently stars in the HBO comedy “Veep,” for which she has won a record six consecutive Emmy Awards playing the role of Selina Meyer.
“The good news is that I have the most glorious group of supportive and caring family and friends, and fantastic insurance through my union,” the 56-year-old actress continued. “The bad news is that not all women are so lucky, so let’s fight all cancers and make universal health care a reality.”
Her revelation prompted an outpouring of sympathy on social networks from many film and television stars, including breast cancer survivors Rita Wilson and Christina Applegate, the New York Post reported.
“Your undaunted spirit has always been an inspiration to your family at HBO. Sending our love and support,” the network posted on Twitter.
Louis-Dreyfus has been married to Brad Hall, like her a former cast member on “Saturday Night Live,” for 20 years. They have two sons, Charlie and Henry.

And because she’s a “star” her cancer is more important than somebody elses. Of course she said she has awesome insurance but some women don’t so we need single payer health care. Um, okee dokee. Burnie payin’?

She is a Multi-Millionaire. She should be self Insured like Rush Limbaugh is so others can benefit with reduced Health Insurance Costs. Isn’t that what Liberals tell us?
I have Cancer too (Leukemia). I have HMO Insurance that costs me $1,987 a Month, up over $1000 a Month since December of 2013 thanks to Obamacare.
I am not a Multi-Millionaire. I am wiping out my IRA paying for my Coverage. Obamacare has cost me about $30,000 (so far) over what I would be paying if Obamacare never existed.
Speeches, fund raising walks, ribbons for all, but never dare a mention of a connection between birth control, abortion, and breast cancer.
What does her being Jewish have to do with her cancer diagnosis? Else why throw that tidbit into the story?
Prayers up. With modern medicine, mostly created by live and dead white men, she has a good cHance of survival.
They just can’t help themselves. Even when dealing with cancer she still has to deliver her wish to destroy the best healthcare system in the world. People from all over the world come here to get help and treatments they can’t get elsewhere.

Lost my Dad and my Mother-n-law to cancer and now our son is in the last stages with hospice care for cancer so I won’t wish anyone with it any ill will, but some of these folks make it very difficult.....
